Recently a Photoreceptor known as Melanopsin was discovered in the Human eye, it is special because it does not just function as a receptor, but the receptor actually has a deeper effects on our brain because it is meant to maintain your sleep cycle and other things that have to do with the 24 hour cycle we are used to.You have probably heard someone say "The Blue light of a computer screen can make you stay awake longer without meaning too" and this actually has scientific basis. If you grow plants, you know that plants respond to light and that the flower Cycle usually requires a red spectrum of light.

Phytochrome is the molecule in plants that is sensitive to red light.

If you watch the Space Ghost Coast to Coast episode with Timothy Leary before he died (you can find it somewhere online if you look hard enough) he was talking about how he was able to use lights to stimulate LSD like hallucinations in people and even got them to see angels.

Transcranial Direct Stimulation (tCDS) for the head
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcranial_direct-current_stimulation
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for the head
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcranial_magnetic_stimulation
TENS for the body
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcutaneous_electrical_nerve_stimulation
EEG could also be used in order to perfect the art of stimulating specific parts of the brain by using tDCS/TMS/TENS and then using EEG to pin point what is happening and repeat that in other people.

They have been able to use tDCS in combination with Virtual Reality to get people's non-responsive limbs working again, they make a program where the person can see arms and legs moving, then they stimulate the parts of the brain that attach to those limbs, and eventually they regain mobility. They just have to wear a weird little hat, there was a Doctor lady from Spain talking about it in a video.
And on a Podcast I was listening to I heard them talking about a Girl that put one on her head and one on her arm, and before putting it on she did a shooting test and missed a bunch, but once it was on she was much more accurate and said that time passed differently for her.
So this implies that using Virtual Reality and tDCS/TMS/TENS people will be able to train for different things in Virtual Reality, things like Sports, Combat, Reflexes, Speed, etc. and they will probably be able to make learning feel like doing Cocaine so that it becomes addictive, or something like that.
I read a book when I was around 15, I don't remember what the name of it was, but the story-line was basically a prediction of where this technology could go. I really wish I could remember the Characters, but I remember they did a drug called "Dust" and the story was told from a bunch of different people's angles, like some of them were living in Silicon Valley I think and another group was in Brooklyn. And it was kind of similar to like the Warriors movie on the Brooklyn side, and they were living in a loft and starting a revolutionary underground. Then they all started getting a hold of these Hairnet Helmet type things where they could press a button and it was like an instant DMT trip. And the stories of Silicon Valley mixed with the stories of Brooklyn. And if I remember right when they were tripping on the Electronic Drugs they would all see this guy named "Jack" or something and I think he was somehow Britishy, and if he wasn't in the Hallucinations then he was on TV screens and stuff, I don't remember completely. But if someone knows what book I am talking about please tell me, because I can't remember at all.
