They are really tiny little black flying gnats. You can put and inch or two of sand on top of your soil. This prevents them from being able to reproduce (they lay their eggs in the soil and the larvae live in it and feed on the roots until mature and start to fly around). You can use diatomaceous earth instead of sand. I usually have a few every grow. I don't worry too much about them unless I start to see a lot of them. They are more of a nuisance than a serious threat like spider mites. BTW welcome to RIU.

Just got rid of mine.

Try having longer dry periods of soil they hate that I also used fruit fly pesticide and then removed all pots from my grow room and washed everything

That should work. Don't use sand from the beach. Get some from a garden center. Best of luck.

I also got a friend for my plants it's called the Venus fly trap but it only got a few

Hot shot pest strips sorry man don't know what there are but fungus gnats are top soil feeders I've never used sand, drying out the soil seems to do the trick someone will defo tell you about tobacco water as well

There is a few things you can do to save your Plant, yes the Sand works. Only put about a 1/2-1 inch on the top of the Soil. This will Surely rip apart any More of the larva that hatch. You can Also Put raw patato stips on the top of the soil and leave them there for a day or too and remove and repeat. This Will draw all the larva out of the ground into the potatos. I recommend the Sand Tho I Have the same problem on a recent plant and It works great. a inch of sand on the top of your soil wont harm the plant at all. It will actually protect it. Also to kill the actual Gnats that are flying around your plant just get some plant Raid bug spray for Gardens Or something Eles its your choice.

I had the same problem... I transplanted and tossed all the old soil,.that alone got rid of 90% of the little bastards.
I hung up a couple fly tapes and the rest got stuck to those.

I was using MG organic soil, and it was moist out of the bag, that was the source. I now dry out the soil completely before it enters the garden room and havent had problems since.
