Why dont we use venus fly traps in our grow rooms.. i mean, they do the job.. and i bet if i set one next to your fungus gnats it would make a difference. Anyone ever tried it?

every time I go to l0wes and walk past them I ask myself the same question, "would it work in a grow tent for insects".

Even if you had 50, the plants wouldn't be able to eat the gnats at the speed those gnats reproduce. Plus the humidity and heat levels needed to keep a venus fly trap healthy are completely different than the levels needed for cannabis

Fungus gnats are from too much moisture in the soil. I just dealt with this about 2 months ago. Honestly you may never totally get rid of them but can easily very well control them. I did all sorts of sprays at the detriment of my plants before I learned that a 1/2 inch of sand on top the soil, and some mosquito dunks works best. I will still see a random gnat here and there, but never more than 2 at a time. Before there would be more every day.

venus flytraps require HIGH humidity, much higher than you would ever want in your grow room....Plus the increased humidity would only make the environment for fungus gnats even more favorable. So this is a double terrible idea.

I dealt with some a few months back. Used Spinosad. I went crazy with it spraying heavily a couple times a day for about a week. This practice has been called OCD but I haven't seen a single sign of one since. Murder those little bastards!

Just use Gnatrol. Works great. Monitor with yellow sticky traps. If you use Gnatrol from day 1 of veg you will never have them. IF you use it after an infestation, you have to up the dosage but it pretty much takes them all down within a few days. It doesn't do anything to the winged adults so use the yellow traps for them. But the eggs and larvae are done. So as soon as the adults die off you are all set. Until then, any eggs they lay won't make it so now worries....
