how many watts you think i would need per plant?
i was going to go with mh/hps but i think the heat would be a problem where i live.

if your going to go with cfls i say 75w per plant at the bare minimum...but i would recommend 100-125w per plant. along with the other lights if you have more than one plant will give supplimental lighting as well

i am so confuse right now bro idk what to pick hid or clf's : ( from what i can see going with hid is gonig to be chepaer in the long run. but what i am worrying abot is the heat facter idk if it would be to hot or if it would be just fine cause of the winter temps coming n my apt gets cool what do you recommend i should do ? i don't wanna blow a big deal of cash either what would be the cheapest way to grow 2 or 3 plants ?

as you get up to 400 watts, it's going to be tough to compete with HPS for bang for the buck
if you want to keep things small, which i what i do, cfl's can be great, say plants 2 foot or less
cfl's do give off plenty of heat, but they aren't as hot per bulb, the heat is spread over a wider area

let say i pick cfl's in the end what brand & what wattage & how many per plant should i get ? let say to grow 3 plants the max?
btw what should i do for flowering ? to get the best results with cfl's?

the last question is the easiest, keep cfl's within 2 inches or so from leaves and buds, they will burn if they touch, but close is best
now what is the best brand/size gets to be a religious argument, everyone has their favorites
i personally find home depot 27w 5500k cfl's excellent for veg, low cost too, others like the 6400k for veg
i use 2700k for flower, others like a mix of the blue(6400k) with the red(2700k)
i like the 26w walmart soft whites, they are actually a rebranded GE bulb(same china supplier), these are 1750 lumens for 26w, nice lumens per watt
probably no fewer than 3 bulbs per plant, i do 3 per plant but use a reflecting chamber to get all the cfl brightness on the plant
