Fuck a Greendot prepaid card..

Thinking i would be sly and outsmart the conventional credit card I picked up a Prepaid Visa. Kindly handed the cashier $105 of my good dollars. Sprinted back home to place an order for fem grapefruit seeds. Register the card, which by the way made me enter social security as a "security measure against funding terrorism". Fuck, there goes the stealth part. Proceeded to place me order and clicked checkout. Card Declined. Hmm this is interesting. Check to make sure I activated it right. Ok there. Check my credit: $100. The total was $90. The billing info is the same i registered with the card yet the bitch declined. To top it all off, they put a hold on the $90 I spent. Having to wait 10 days for it to get back to my card. Said fuck it and canceled it. Now i gotta wait another 10 days to get a check for the $100.

Simple and plain: AVOID THE VISA GREENDOT PREPAID CARD.

Hope this helps stop another unfortunate soul from buying this piece of plastic.

Stay Based,
-Gorilla

Same story happened to me. I heard that they can't check to make sure it is your actual ss number and they can only check that it is a valid ss number. So, lets say your name was Bob Smith. Well Bob, you can go on Google and type something like "fake information generator" or something of the sorts, and I actually came upon a website that gives fake, but working, info. Including ss number. I will try to find the exact site I use for you

Edit: fakenamegenerator.com

Wow solid info from both, good to know that i can transfer it but it's too late now b/c i already canceled it... damn.

appreciate the link guitar guy. Helps a ton when it comes to privacy.

Visa sucks. I used to use the pre-paid online shopping card to order, but recently they changed their policies and no longer allow worldwide use because of federal guidelines. I'm sure they will lose alot of business that way too.

Yea i have always used visa, but now i'm thinking about a full on boycott for this travesty. Such a shame. I put my last $100 on that card to see it be a total waste of time.

I had the walmart prepaid visa for a couple years with no problems. Then out of nowhere, after getting my tax refund direct deposited and a paycheck deposited, I spent all but 19 dollars, then my card got locked. So I called them up and they told me that some system was hacked and that all cards have a hold on them until they verify information. I told them that according to their TOS and cardholder agreement which says "Once your information is verified, you will receive your personalized card in the mail, If we are unable to verify your information, then you will receive a check for the amount on your temporary card." I told this to 6 customer service members, being I had my personalized card for 2 years, which meant that my information was already verified, and they told me they couldn't refund the amount on the card. Asked for a supervisor and was told the same thing. So I said fuck it, keep the damn money and cancel the card. They told me they couldn't do that either so I told them to fuck off.
Long story short, I cut the card up in tiny 1MM pieces, and mailed it to Walmart moneycard headquarters, with a nice long letter about their customer service. Mentioned the same part from the cardholder agreement, and told them that I really didn't think it was necessary to go to the media over $20, but if I didn't get my money, I would.

A week and a half later, I got the check for 19 bucks, and an apology saying they hoped I would use the walmart money card again. Yeah Right.

Just my experience.

I've used GreenDot for like 2 years to fund various accounts, including my horse racing accounts and have been nothing but happy with the results. Read the instructions/directions/small print and you'll be very happy if you can follow procedures........

SSHZ.... have you tried this since April 1st???? I was on the phone with a rep from Visa and she told me that NO prepaid cards (not just Visa) are able to be used internationally anymore as of the first of April of this year.

Actually, you are very wrong.....and no I'm not retarded...real mature. Visa sells different kinds of cards...the online shopping cards were good for international purchases because I used them many times! As of April 1st...they changed federal guidelines. We are not talking about the gift cards that say in big letters..Valid only in the United States....so your point is a moot one.

so does that include the Walmart card I'm wondering?
This probably applies to all the different card vendors as far as unregistered cards. The lady at Visa said federal guidelines changed to prevent "anonymous over-seas purchases" and that they only cards that are viable are ones that are registered. His was registered so not sure what happened there.
