From Drying to Curing?

Doesn't sound too bad at all!

All I have smoked is a rabbit turd of hash scraped off the trimming scissors... I got pretty high

The Caliber IIIs are about US$20 a pop. The analogue ones are much cheaper, usually about US$5.
eBay is the best option.
I do not recommend analog hygrometers at all. The least expensive, halfway decent hygrometers are the small digital jobs on Ebay from Hong Kong. They tend to read a little high, so I strongly suggest using a Caliber III to gauge their readings.

And yes, one per jar if you want the most accurate results.
One hygrometer will suffice as a rough indication for the humidity of multiple jars, so long as you make the volume of bud in each jar consistent (and the bud itself consistent).
While it's nice to have a hygrometer per jar, one can use a smaller number, as it takes the product some time to hydrate. Typically, assuming the product isn't wet, it tales ~24 hours to get an accurate reading, allowing the meter to be moved from jar to jar. HTH

It seems I can never find a assuring answer when it comes to curing is there some type of science to regaining the smell of the buds? smell and texture is pretty much everything when it comes to the business aspect of this game

Im finding out that very anwser right now.
My querkle has been drying for a week now. Its pretty much dry and all jarred up with a hygrometer in each jar. All at 66% right now. This is my first drying and curing where I did it without fans and tried to keep the RH high so not to dry them out. I like the results so far.
It doesnt have that dank smell it possessed when she was alive. Ive got enough this time to keep a good bit jarred up for a lengthy time.
Ill post here every so often to update on how the smell has improved.

jar when you can snap the bud off the stem cleanly without it "stringing." also when you harvest only remove the large \r leaves with stems. by keeping all the smaller leaves, the buds dry more slowly and evenly. when the small leaves are crispy and the buds pic off cleanly then remove the buds and finish the manicure. cut all medium leaves and cut the tips off the sugar leaves then jar. the dry should be about 7 days. your buds should not smell green when you put them in the jars, and they should be able to be smoked in a joint without going out.

I pretty much have, after check and test, been able to manually find the ideal time to jar them. They just barely start to get crispy on theoutside, and I jar em overnight (or for about 12 hrs). Then I open them 3-4 times a day and leave em open for different periods, depending how they seem.

They would likely mold if I left them closed for 24hrs or more. I have seen this happen in the past. BUt my buds dry too fast, and I jar em to slow that as soon as I feasibly can without worrying about mold.
And I personally thought the scale of simons method seemed odd... not saying its wrong, he knows alot more than me im sure, but seems off to only go to 55% as the lowest... seems like a small percentage area that its in the whole curing time. But if it works it works

I've read quite a bit and don't remember seeing this mentioned. Does curing affect potency as well as flavor or just flavor?

My conditions are a little dry through the winter (~35%), so I expect increased times as summer comes, but this is what I do: Full manicure, hang until outside is crispy but stem still bendy, cut nuggets off of larger stem and jar (about 20-22hrs to this point). From there it's all touch and smell. I jostle the jar a bit to move the bud around and then crack it and inhale the first burst that comes out, the change of the smell as it cures helps me know when it's ready and the changing smell after dryness has occurred reminds me to go for long cures. I cut the sides off of some cereal boxes and I'll pour the buds out into them until the edges are again crispy when pinched (usually about 30-45 minutes in the beginning stages). This continues until the flavor of the strain starts to emerge over the 'earthy' smell of curing buds and the buds stop feeling spongy when pinched. By the time the buds only have to be out for about 7 minutes to achieve crispiness, I start just burping the jars as opposed to laying the buds out. When bending a bud between two fingers results in the bud snapping cleanly in the middle, then she's ready to rock. At that point I twist one up and smoke it at a regular pace: if she burns true then she's ready for you but if she goes out then back in the jar to sweat it out. I cure for as long as I can after that, just checking the smell periodically to make sure everything is good....but with blueberry and cheese you are using some really distinct smells, so that might help me.

This is of course only one way and probably the wrong way or the least efficient or otherwise stupid, but it works for me.
