frist time growing in closet need help!!!! i have no clue what i am doing

:cry: hi there, Sheryl here. these are my two plants that i need advice on. this closet it where we will be locating them in it will be cleaned out completely. ill be drilling a whole in the wall from the bathroom into this closet so i can run a extension cord, i have a toddler so i don't want to run it outside the closet for him to shock himself with. i only have & 50 come the first to get everything i need for these ladies. i have no clue what i am doing. i heard i should go with a clf closet. but still not sure what i should do about even watering when i need to re plant them how long do i let them grow before i start letting them flower all and any advice is appreciated thanks a ton! :roll: :confused:DSCF0544.jpgDSCF0543.jpg

its gonna be hard to get enough equipment for a quality grow with $50. not sayin it cant be done, i try to cut all costs myself when i can but some things you cant just skimp on especially as a beginner.

Hiya sherlsue85 and welcome to RIU. nice looking Ladies...Did you mean you have $50/£50 to work with(Buy 1st bits you need) I noticed you have a Fan sat on floor in Living Room? could you move this into the Closet? is it Variable control? what dimensions is Closet? is it all painted White? How Old are your Ladies? What Size Plant Pots you got them in? and what kind of Soil(Compost) Perlite mix are you using? lastly what kind of Light Route would you like to go CFL or Hps?

Just an Example(Cheap 1st Setup) -

This is a £49.99 250w Hps Lamp/Ballast & Reflector kit..just Plug and Grow..will give you between 30000-32000 Lumens and in that Closet would be more than enough light(Lumens) for your ladies..but you will need to Monitor your Temps with something and provide Air Movement(That Big Fan on your Floor)

I agree $500 would be better than $50...like loads easier!!!...but IF you on a Budget, and have to buy stuff in stages it can still be done..getting serious does not equate to spending big sums of money..many a GROWER with money bought all the Latest most expensive Lights, Carbon/Fan Filter setup..and the High end Nute programs and grew Jack Shit...getting serious should surely be about learning and mastering the Art and Science of Cannabis Cultivation? some Posts ive read are from Peeps using multiple CFL(CHEAP) and acheiveing what they set out to do...learning how to Grow..now some of these Peeps have moved on to Hps/Mh and some have no doubt stuck with CFL..


Everbody starts somewhere(and learn about your space, Temps, Hum, Nutes and so on and on and on)
And you gotta learn to walk before you can learn to run.

Unless OP is a DIYer. Then they may be able to shave a 100 bucks or so, maybe...

The title to this thread certainly doesn't shout I am a DIYer though...

Of course OP can spend 50 bucks and hang some lights over a plant in some miracle gro and end up with less than they would have if they had just spent the 50 bucks on bud.

A little D.I.Y Skill and a lot of time invested, reading up and thinking about the way you are going to approach and adapt your Grow Environment, can yield enough to make the Learning experience worth while..My First grow with a 200w Giant CFL netted me 4oz...not a lot by some Peeps standards, but I was happy enough... and all the while I was working with this 200w CFL, I was saviing my monies up and thinking of ways to improve my Setup and adapting my Grow Space(4'x4'x8 Closet) and reading up more Info on Lumens, Plant Life, Etc..you name it..if it was to do with Cannabis Cultivation or even just Plants in General, I found myself drawn to the subject...I do believe some Peeps only use CFL(Cheap) and are very successful with this and some Autos and Photo-periods as well..

$50 of street(SHIT)weed ain't going to teach you shit...apart from maybe don't buy $50 of street(SHIT)weed

Not trying to be argumentative, but when I first started Growing I looked into a couple of Forums and Joined 1, stated I was starting a Grow and had ordered a 200w Giant CFL...the response I got was "don't bother you're wasting your time"...well I got 4oz with my first Grow, but if I had listened to the Neg response and just given up then I wouldn't have learned anything.

More Money just makes it easier, IF you have imagination, a little D.I.Y. Skill or are prepared to Learn em + the ability and want to learn about Nature of things then in the end you will avail my friend.

Depends who and where you buy from but you can pick up a 300w CFL Dual Spectrum Giant CLF(150w 6400K & 150w 2700K) Giant CFL c/w Reflector and pluged Cable = £59.95 Free PnP in UK BUT after just looking on FleaBay USA can only find 200w CFL for $62.99 Free Pnp..now I understand why Peeps use LOTS of 23w and 42w in Grow Cabs in USA rather than 1 Giant CFL...thought it was us poor BRiTS got ripped!!

Still in Shock nearly 2hrs later..Lol..will do a CFL Budget system using Multiple 42-50w Bulbs instead 1 Giant CFL...thinking about this...might do a Uk & USA version of both Budget systems.....see just what Price differences are?

Good Luck Sheryl!. I recently converted a closet into a veg room and cut as many costs as possible. I would suggest that you check out craigslist and even post on freecycle for whatever you can.

I got a bunch of stuff cheap on craigslist.
And if you need things like random hardware, paint, surge protector, humidifier, ducting, give freecycle a shot. (I got a humidifier, 4" ducting, paint, and a few other items.)
You could probably even get some old lamps to put cfls into.

Just a few suggestions!!!!

Where are you shopping? Home Depot 200w 6500k/2800L Daylight spiral CFL , only uses 42watts of energy. Bright as Hell. Only costs $8.97

When you look at CFL you don't look at the incandescent comparison...

Those bulbs are 42 watt bulbs, not 200 watt bulbs. They are "equivalent" to a 200 watt incandescent.
42 watt is 42 watt.

sorry i am super new at this.
i dont want to frustrate anyone. or make it seem like i am incapable.
thats not it at all. i just have no clue where to start. some generious person donated these two plants before thinking that me and my hubby have never even attempted to grow. i would like to take these two ladies and do what i can with them.

Hiya sherlsue85, Yeah I did mean settings...that's Cool you can use the Fan in the Closet and having 3 settings for speed gives you more control.

From what I've seen on the Fleabay(USA) site the BIGGER wattage CFL are DOLLAR!! So it might be better for you to run multiple lower Watt CFL? say maybe 6-8 23-42w(Real not equivalent) and hang em using Hooks and chains :twisted:(not ones on the door..Lol) from that shelf in your closet..by attaching chains(don't have to be Thick or expensive) you can raise and lower each Bulb on its own(seen one guy daisy chain paper clips to make his chains) How tall are you Ladies? and how long do you plan on Vegging before you flip to 12/12? don't want them to tall(Mistake I always make) because they will fill out in first couple weeks of flowering. Nearly forgot you want both Veg and Flower bulbs if you can help it..though some peeps have done complete Grows with just the one type of bulb.

i am a DIYer just doesnt appear that what ;)

i would rather spend the 50$ on bud, however these were given to me and no matter how much i try and tell my husband out 1100$ income doesnt have room for this kind of thing. he wont listen so i have no choice but to figure out how i can do it for only $50 cus after bills, house hold items diapers "cus these food stamps dont buy diapers"-eminem lol i only have 50$ bucks left to deal with this.
