Fresh air vs more space?

Alright, one last thing I need to decide.

I could either use my spare room to grow, which is about 10x8. Or I could grow in the basement which is huge and has no areas where light can exit, so nobody can see the light from outside the house. Also, the dryer is in the basement so I could send the hot air out the dryer exhaust. But, it is kind of musty down in the basement, and very humid (I have a dehumidifier but it is still humid.) Humidity may be a good thing though. My main concern is the mustiness and just the fact that its a dirty basement with little air flow.

Which would you guys choose? And could I grow in the basement if I had to?

id go for the spare bedroom i just changed from my big boiler coaboard to my spare bedroom mines 12ftx2 8ftx2 8ft tall the only thing u will need 2 do is build a box 4 your window make it air tight so no light can get out puts some blinds up and a net curtain b4 u do though then your ready 2 go

basement wouldnt be my first choice because of the high humidity can cause bad mold you should have some fresh air comming into the basment and hot air leaving, they are guna need alota fresh air so yeah for sure go for the spare room bro. unless u have sum extra cash to spend.

a bigger room gives you a better ambient room temp.. bigger area for the heat to move around..air flow is the key though

The main problem with the spare room is that my wife and I (usually my wife) have houseguests over sometimes that sleep in there, not to mention friends that might catch a glimpse while going to the bathroom (the upstairs bathroom is in the spare room, theres one in the master bedroom but everyones always used the spare room one).

I have alot of fans and another dehumidifier that I just dont use, and also when just my wife and I are home (95% of the time) I can leave the basement door open so some fresh air can get down there.

if you have a way of bring in fresh air in the basement then you will be fine to grow in there... my friend grows in a basment and now that he has finally listen to me about the fresh air he has no more mold or mildew... have a good exhaust also....goodluck

good ventilation, as MG said, will take care of the mold and mildew issues down stairs.. you will have more space for heat to dissipate keeping ambient temperatures lower and more stable.. and the fresh air will do wonders for your garden.. and even if you cant bring fresh air in and just have to keep air moving its alright.. using the dehumidifier will take care of the air moisture and if you invest in an ozone generator it will take care of the mold, mildew, and fungus spores (and any other air impurity) you have floating around.. they are a little bit of an investment.. but for something that will take care of all your smell issues plus keep your air clean enough to preform surgery in its well well worth it..

I decided on the basement. I have a fan going to keep the plants cool and keep the air moving, two dehumidifiers, and an air pump pumping air out the dryer hose (which should pull fresh air in from the rest of the house. I would leave the door open to the basement but it would cost me a fortune in air conditioning). Ill take a pic of the whole operation tomorrow. Im using 4 100w 5500k CFL's, two of them in reflectors directly above the plants and two of them in a three-bulb lamp pointing at the plants from a foot or two away (the third bulb is a 50w CFL), as well as a 125w 2700k CFL in the middle of the grow op and a 75w incandescent that I found in my basement, the only reason im using it is it says "gro light" on the front and came with pretty nice looking housing.

Ill post a pic tomorrow, right now time for bed.
