Freezing weed?

I just bought a few ounces of this damn good weed.(dont know the strain) but i wonna save some for when my brother comes to visit me in a couple months time. if i dont put some of it away it will be gone in a few weeks.
Somebody told me that putting your weed in a ziplock bag in the freezer is the best way to store it for longer periods of time.
is this true?
whats the best way to store this so when i smoke it will taste exactly the same?
im talking 6 months + maybe even a year.

put it in a jar in the closet. don't freeze, as that will make it brittle and dusty.

fridge in a jar. or in a jar somewhere lower in temps and no light.
