So my friend is growing outside in arizona, and tonight the temp is going to go below freezing? The plant has maybe a week left on it (if that) but hes wondering if he should chop it now so that it doesn't die tonight. Any comments are much appreciated.

Cover it up with something if you can, if no then I still wouldnt worry unless its going to be a very hard frost.

apparently its the root temps that's most important,,, would be good if you could heat the roots

i had 4 plants in buckets that was outside survived a frost when weather was rain and more rain i brought them inside.harvested two the other night no problems.frost did not harm mine hope this helps.

you could try putting staight sticks in the ground around it in 4 corners and put plastic around it to keep the wind from hitting it and it will make a green house effect and make it warmer, and if your worried about the roots freezing you could make a fire and put broken bricks in it and warm them up then put the broken bricks on the ground around the plant so it will heat the ground and keep the roots from freezing
