Foxfarm Nutrients, some advice please!

Hi All,

Finally placed my order on Amazon for the Foxfarm nutrients! I live in Asia so they don't sell the stuff here, so to save money on shipping, I ordered a lot more than I need.

Anyways, my questions are:

1. I ordered Foxfarm Bushdoctor Sledgehammer for flushing purposes, is that any good or is "Clearex" better?
2. Ordered the "Liquid Nutrient Trio Soil Formula: Big Bloom, Grow Big, Tiger Bloom"
3. Ordered the "Open Sesame, Beastie Bloomz & Cha Ching Soluble Granular Fertilizer Tri-Pack". Between #2 and #3, which one is better? I ordered both but which one should i start with?
4. Ordered "Dyna Gro Root Gel"
5. Ordered "Technaflora Rootech Gel for Plants". Between #4 and #5, which is better for clones or do they both work the same?

My Plant specs:
- Currently on Vegetation stage @ 6 weeks
- Lighting: 2 x 65 watt CFL, 6 x 21 watt T5, 1 x 110 watt UFO LED
- Soil grown without perlite
- currently at 24 hours light, will switch to 12/12 soon for Flowering stage
- Plant height currently at about 20-22 inches
- Current nutes: some Asian China brand that doesn't seem to work because some plant leaves are starting to brown spot and crumple up, some say its a Cal-Mag deficiency, others say its potassium deficiency, and some say its a nute burn so thats why I wanna flush out first and start fresh with the Foxfarm.

Thanks all and Happy New Years!

Doug

I use Clonex with great success, good luck with your order, Fox Farm will not fix anything, its just a fertilizer like all others, you have to know how to use it and know how to read your plants..many deficiencies and over fertilization problems will resemble each other..Also im sure folks in Asia garden so i am sure you could find some high quality nutes around locally. You have become a victim of great marketing tactics. Fox Farm is weak so you have to use a good bit of the stuff to get big growth..read the labels N-P-K..and be prepared to order this stuff for the rest of your life..Fox Farm is not that great and for the price you pay for it makes it robbery...locally source as much as possible, join a local gardening club and maybe think about going organic with compost..Fox Farm is a blend of organic and synthetic..so beneficial bacteria does not thrive in it too well...go local go organic..keep it clean and simple..its weed not a rocket ship..)

I'm using Fox Farm's trio and the boosters right now.

Here's their current online feeding schedule: http://foxfarmfertilizer.com/index.php/for-our-customers/feeding-schedules

The trio is for use during all stages of growth, the boosters are added sparingly during flowering cycle. Be careful and dont go full strength on them from the get go though. I get some decent sized buds for being a beginner, but they can burn your plants if you give em too much. And I dont think you really need to flush as much as they recommend either.

Don't clone yet myself, so no help here.

Hey Zoslick.
I too am using the Fox farm nutrient system with great success. However; I have not heard good things about sledgehammer. I have read that it does not wash out your soil good and other bad things about it. The posts were old but the formula for sledgehammer I don't think is changed. I did not use it for flushing because of the bad sayings I got scared and just went with the regular pH water flush.
I am following their feeding schedule other than except that I'm using the back of the bottle for the big Bloom I'm only putting in 4 tablespoons gallon during vegetation and 3 tablespoons a gallon during flower.
So far so good, my plants look wonderful. I have some in cloning summing vegetation and some and flower and all of them are just growing like weeds.
My furthest ones along are in their sixth week of feeding schedule right now.
I'll let you know how goes but so far so good.
Good luck.

Hey AverageJay,

I looked at the feeding schedule and noticed they have multiple feedings during certain weeks... does this mean I have to feed them 3-4 different nutrients during the same week? or do I just choose 1 and feed it only that?

Thanks!!

Hey AZPsyclops,

How do you flush your plant? Do you need to pH the water to 6.2-6.5 for soil grow and then flush it out? Im still kinda uncertain about this flushing process because if you flush with 2-3 times the amount of soil within the pot with water, doesn't this 'over water' the plant? If I do flush, do I need to feed it with nutes right after or do I wait until the next watering to feed it?

Please take a look at the following photos... these are pics of my current plant... its really bad!! Any suggestions to why its looking like this? Does it look like a nute burn? Potassium deficiency or calcium deficiency?

Thanks!

When I feed I pour all the doses into my gallon water jug and just shake it up. For instance, if it was week 6 I'd add 3 tsps of Big Bloom, 2 tsps of Tiger Bloom, 1 tsp of Kangaroots and less than 1/4 tsp of Open Sesame all into one gallon of water, cap it and give it a damn good shake before feeding. As always, start off by using slightly lower doses so the plants aren't shocked right away.

Here's an almost finished Sour Diesel that's been on nothing but Fox Farm nutes I've got right now:

Little bit of nute burn, but I'm still learning here. I'll probably get close to 2 oz off of her and I'm only growing in 1 gallon pots.

Thanks for the guide bro! Truly appreciate you sharing this valuable info with me! But i noticed you dont flush your plant until the very end, but is it necessary to flush the plant at all? I haven't flushed once since I started from the germination process...

Thanks again!

HOLY CRAP! That's a really fine producing plant you have there! I hope I can get to a stage like that! But thanks for the tips! I haven't really been giving my plant any nutes since start because of the crap they have over here in Asia, but my Amazon delivery of the Foxfarm nutes are due on the 25th of this month, hope my plant survives until then! But luckily enough, I took off 3 successful clones (first time cloning and without any root growth hormones) and they are starting to grow now... I'll probably end up using the FF nutes for the clones instead of the mother plant since it would be in the 12th week when the FF nutes are supposed to arrive.

Seems that you'll get more than 2 ounces there...
