Forest Tree Cover

I know you don't need 100% sunlight every minute of daylight, but how much is yield typically hurt by various amounts of shade, assuming all other factors are decent?
Theoretical experiment:
For a strain like say White Widow, if you were to plant identical clones in identical giant pots, and then place one in each-
a) in direct ideal sun
b) beside a building that allowed direct sunlight half the day, then produced dark shade
c) just inside a forest (northern edge of field) where its pretty bright even where sun isn't penetrated with several hours direct light
d) just inside a forest (northern edge of field) where its even brighter than (c) where sun isn't penetrated, but little to no direct rays
e) in a very small clearing in thick forest where is gets speckled with direct rays early and late, and gets about 4-5 hours direct light
f) under a thick canopy that reduces light to near twilight levels all day

How do you guys think the others would yield ratio-wise against (a) in southwestern ontario [Latitude 43°]?

Yield will be affected GREATLY... MJ needs at least 5-6 hours of DIRECT sunlight each day... I had 2 plants same strain in two completely dif. areas...one in sun all day, and one in sun for maybe 3 hours a day and there was At least an OZ in difference.. that was just for me though

Rule of thumb... (with big container) If there is a tree in the horizon, then you have too much shade. To understand your question(s), go for the back door learning... not what to do, but what happens if you do this or that. For that, read about the techniques of growing bonsai. Depriving sunlight to "heat/Sun loving plants is nothing more than one application used to growing Bosnia plants. Full sun, She will dance for you.

SmokeaBlunt, you say an ounce, but what fraction of the total was that? Was the well placed one a big yielder? Because honestly, even if my yield is hit 75%, I think I might focus on more plants in more obscure poorly lit areas.. My plan next year for one spot is to play it like a dumb kid.. There are trail systems that bring the odd nature lover around, as well as some regular dog walkers etc. There really isn't alot of traffic though, and its vastly confined to main trails.. The way I see it, if I disguise work well enough to make it look lazy, and plant only one in a spot, then if it does get seen, it will either be stolen, or shrugged off as done by kids.. So doing that I can chance putting a few in decent light, but ontop of that, I wouldn't mind mildly littering some really rough areas deeper in.. I'll have as many clones as I could possibly manage.. I plan to prep about 200, pick/choose until I declare the planting done, and give the rest to a buddy who can do as he wishes with them.. He'll give most away to ppl who want hobby plants to kill.. Ppl who don't need to know where they came from..

It's like the rule on drinking water. When you've drank as much as you want, drink more. Same with Sunlight.

I get the fact that more light is better, I really really do.. I'm even aware that if I could tilt the planet another 20°, I'd get even better sunlight yet.. I'd really just like to know 'what I could expect in comparison' though.. In terms of a rough ratio estimate, I realize yield is absolutely indeterminate.. Widows do have a fair amount of sativa in them too, so I'd expect them to prefer alot of light more than others.. But heck, if I'm willing to get ripped apart by raspberry bushes, and covered in spiders for a half ounce, I'm pretty sure thats my choice..:)

On a side note, to stress that I'm not only looking for yield/plant, I intend to start more clones later too.. (Staggered times actually).. To take advantage of some areas that can hide small plants superbly.. If Low-Ryder didn't suck so hard I'd be all over that, but I'd rather have real plants..

REAL PLANTS, God Play. Mother Nature has rules. Raise ONE like Fdd, then clone & rejuive, that goal will get your mind off certain course of action.
