Has anyone had any experience of drying the precious Harvest in a food dehydrator?
Curing is a slow, methodical process that can either make your weed taste as smooth as fine Brandy, or make you hack and cough with every hit. Shortcuts will always produce the latter. Any discussion on the topic of "growing from seed to smoke", will always include the "drying and curing" process. And actually, "drying" is when curing actually begins, not when you first jar it up.

Fast drying would be like cooking a t-bone steak in your microwave :)

One other thing I'll mention, that I'm sure all of us who have tried fast drying in our early days, can attest to, and that is, when you try to quick dry your weed, your whole house will smell absolutely horrible, like you mowed the lawn inside your house. It'll smell like that for several hours! And, that is exactly how that weed's going to taste.

I have one I use for peppers etc. Works great!
Not in a rude way, but seriously? I can't recall seeing any quick-dry/dehydration method that at best, didn't give you a headache. You have to be really Jonesing to smoke before curing :bigjoint:

Oh wait, are you just saying that you use it for peppers, but you don't actually dry this way? If so, my misunderstanding.

get some Boveda packs for the cure. best invention ever for curing cannabis.
Are these like the moisture packs/capsules?

I've actually never had a problem curing, just by methodically burping jars. I live in Oregon, which is always humid, and burping is the only thing I do. This is after properly determining when to jar them after drying.

What I do is burp the jars every few hours the first few days, a few times a day, for a few days, a couple times a day...well, you get the point :) .When I burp the jars, I tumble them so the buds all separate, then I fan a little air in with my hand, to get the fresh air to the bottom. After closing up, I tumble them lightly, so that there's space between the buds to breath.

Comes out perfect :)

Cool! I'll pick some of these up. I should be harvesting in a couple weeks.
i probably over dry just a bit and then jar it with a pack in each jar. no need to burp the jars. i usually let them go for about 2 weeks. but same as you, i flip the jars over every few days just to make sure the buds don't clump together.

I don't use packs, but I use this method to tell if I need to open the jars. I saw that the buds will stick together when you shake the jar until they become dry enough. If the buds stuck together I opened the jar for as long as I could, until my wife bitched that the house stunk too bad. After they are dry enough they will not stick together when you shake the jar. At that point I just left them until it was that jar's turn to be smoked.

I pretty much smell the jar to determine if I need to leave the jar open for an hour, or even lay the buds out for a couple hours. And, like you said, when the buds tumble with sticking, it's pretty much cured enough to smoke.
