Foliar feeding questions x 2. Let the roasting begin and I don't mean the plant leaves.

Ten years ago someone asked the question on this forum regarding foliar feeding, should it be done with lights on or off. Do the plants uptake the nutrients better if foliar fed when lights are on or off. The whole thread turned into a childish slanging match which was a shame, he took a right roasting so the thread was ruined. Basically he was asking if the plant leaf stomata took nutrients in as efficiently when lights are off.

I would like to ask the same question.
I foliar with lights on but raised. Never had any burning but I do add natural soap and Bio-Biz Aloa to act as wetting agents, there is no beading just wet leaves. So that is question one. Is it OK, beneficial or detrimental to foliar feed with lights on? As far as burning goes lets face it plants often get rained on mid summer immediately followed with blazing sunshine.

Question 2: My foliar consists of Liquid seaweed - Bio-Biz Aloa - Fluvic Acid - bio washing up liquid - water. I also foliar with pure Neem oil - bio washing up liquid and water separately on a different day. The question is can I add the Neem to my regular foliar feed without it affecting or reacting with any of the other ingredients?

I am unaware of someone actually doing a study on it, but I think to be sure someone who should a scientific comparison. Start with the basics of comparing whether water does anything, recording different heights and then perhaps add things from there one by one. Comparing each with lights on and lights off, getting as close as possible and recording the results.

edit: you would want to probably use distilled water now that i think about it. If you used tap you would want to make sure you tested the water and definitely got ec and ph to make sure all the variables are consistent.

i find if your lights are strong and hot you will run into more of a chance to burn. im known to foliar spray with a product called overgrow from optic foliar it says to spray with lights ON. so i do and 98% dont have an issue but sometimes notice a spot or two where a bit of water had pooled up. if its anything else i tend to spray about an hour before lights on. gives the plants a bit of time to suck up the water and then when lights on theres maybe just a bit left. i do also use a product called transport from the same company which claims to make the stomas open. you can use half strength product when using transport.20210313_131608.jpg

Lights on and dimmed if possible. The sunburn everyone fears is not a burn. It doesn’t help but it’s on fan leaves that many go away anyway.
