Folding LED Grow Lights

I didn't think about the lights that have multiple folding angles. Those I think you are right about being able to direct the light. Not sure how important it would be if a person was growing in a tent with reflective side though.

One of the main reason is shipping. It is much cheaper to ship a large frame that folds in half compared to the same light with a rigid frame.
I use Growcraft lights and spoke with one of their customer support reps recently about adding a light bar to one of my lights.

During one of our email conversations, I asked why Growcraft lights were priced so high.

Part of the answer is that their lights ship fully assembled whereas a lot of their competitors have designed foldable lights. The foldable lights are cheaper to ship but he also said that they're not as durable as a Growcraft. He mentioned that some growers have problems getting their lights to sit level and that's due to the fact that they fold and may not be lining up quite right.

I have 2 of the 200 watt lights from vivosun that fold, I'm pretty sure it's just for shipping but they hang just fine.

Why do they sell Grow Lights that Fold now?
Pretty sure they don't make one that folds like this one does:
