Flwr from seed then Veg then ScrOG

Could I do 12/12 from seedling to determine sex then once I know my females go back into vegging then throw it into a ScrOG? It should only be about 10 inches by the time I know sex right?
 
Yeah, what you're talking about is called force flowering. But maybe you shouldn't do it quite like how you stated. *busts out the Cannabis Grow Bible*

"'Force-flowering' is probably the best early-sexing method. To force-flower a cannabis plant, simply take a cutting and place it in a cup of water or a cloning medium, such as rockwool. Expose the cutting to 12 hours of light followed by 12 hours of total darkness. The cutting should flower and display it's sex -- however the plant must be mature enought to present its sex. An immature plant will not show sex because initial calyx development is not photoperiod-related. Plants normally mature around the forth week of vegative growth because sex is not genetically determined until the third week of growth." ~page 102

So, I think you should just grow your plants under the normal veg lighting, until they're big enough for you to take cuttings from for clones. THEN do what the cannabis bible suggested.

Because it takes a lot of time and engery to flower your entire plant, and then get it to revert to vegging. It will take you more time, and could slow your plants growth.
 
Even if you don't have the space for two different grow rooms, you could just keep your clone/cuttings under the lights with your plants for the 12 hours they need of light, then seal them away somewhere else where you know they'll be safe and kept in the dark for the other 12.
 
Also what you can do is veg for 3-4 weeks then put it on 12/12 and wait about 2 weeks and see if you can see sex. Now if it shows sex u can take a clone from one of the lower branches and put that into veg state, knowing that it is a female... Then the original plant will mature and grow bud while your clones grows into a nice healthy mother..

I would not take a clone from a plant in 12/12 no later than about the 4th week

*sigh* I guess I'll do this since I don't want to hurt or slow my plant growth and I have suffecient light for big plants. LET THE ALIEN INVASION BEGIN!:mrgreen: I'm excited cause I love checking my plants in the middle of the night. But they're in the dark period right now cause of the 12/12 from seed thing. Can I just turn the lights on and interrupt the dark for 24/0?

edit:Repping is brokeded :( I can't rep Wikidb untill I "spread some rep points" but the last time I repped her was like a week ago (I think?)
 
Let me get this they are on 12/12 and u want to switch them to 24/0 ?? If so how big are they currently ??

Yeah I want to Veg them for another few weeks, I think I should have waited to 12/12 untill a month or so of vegging but I was too eager to grow buds. They're about 3 weeek old seedlings, I wouldn't think it would fuck them up by I'm not sure.
 
It also depends on the height of the plant, what you should do if they are big enough is take a couple clones and grow like 2-3 clones and switch the main plant to 18/6 light, personally I think 18/6 is better because the plants need time off.. You spend 18 hours a day pumping light on them they need time to rest and grow, They grow mainly in the dark cycle.. Look at my grow log my plants sprouted about an inch overnight..

Back to the point lol.. K take the clone cutting then bump up the light cycle 24/0 or 18/6 the reason for the clones is so that if your main plant dies you still got clones.. You should be able to pull it off and have the plant still live, but the stress might turn it into a HERMY..
 
KK good luck and let me know how it turns out try 18/6 light one time you might like the results better than 24/0 let the babies sleep 6 hours a day..

I personally do a stager technique. Just like the sun doesn't rise and set the same time every day neither do my lights.. I got like 18/6 then 17/7 then 19/5 I do this everyday I switch times.. It's kinda a theory on one of the threads here that they will grow better this way, because your lights are acting more like the sun..

Interesting... I am trying a lighting experiment currently in one of my flowering rooms. But didn't know about any light modifications for vegging. Please, tell me more...

"Cannabis is a light demanding plant. Professional growers keep the light on their plants using the 24/0 photoperiod for this reason. Plants that grow under 24/0 flourish and do not need a quantity of darkness in order to rest and perform photosynthesis properly. Plants that are grown in optimal conditions under the 24/0 light regime grow vigorously and the benefits of a 24/0 photoperiod can been seen actively in the results. More nodes are formed, more branches are created, leaf numbers increase, the plant is growing at it's finest.

Some growers opt to use 18/6 as their photoperiod. This is an 18 hours of light, six hours of darkness light regime. Under these conditions the plant will grow quite naturally but not as vigorously as the 24/0 photoperiod."

Well basically I read the post but I can't find it but I'll explain what it said basically.

The theory is that the sun rises and falls every day and every night. But it doesn't come up at the same time it varies, 10 minutes here 15 minutes there..

So therefore the guy was running an experiment to see what it would do what he did was stager the time, he was currently trying it in flowering, but he said it would work with both flowering and vegging cycle..

He had it setup so that the times stagered like 30 minutes a day so some days it would get 12 hours of light some days 11.5 and some days 12.5 hours. I am trying to find the post because he ahd a time schedule all laid out.. I'll work on trying to find it..
 
What they do when you turn off the lights is that they stretch, which really isnt the same as saying that they grow more or grow better..

But it'd be nice to see a comparison of this method and 24/0. Until then it's just a theory :)
