Flushing?

Im a first time grower and still about 2 weeks from beginning flowering. I've read countless threads and websites on growing but until checking this site I hadn't heard a lot about flushing. What does it do for the plant? How much do you "flush" it and at what point before harvesting should you flush?

Ugh.... ignore my post, after a little more snooping around I realized I misread the few posts I had seen here. Flushing is soaking the plant in water after harvesting right?

lol no that would not be good.:blsmoke: flushing is where you water the plant with plain water and no nutrients and you water it real heavy then let it get real dry then water it real heavy again and do this for 2 weeks to leach out the salts that build up in the soil from nutrients over time. if you dont do this theres a high possibility your weed wont taste good, wont smell good, will burn funny make it may crackle and pop in your eye:twisted: so flushing is key for good smoke. what your talking about is water curing that is where you leave the fresh cut buds in water for 7 days or so then take them out then dry them with a fan. i have not tried this method but im sure you can find some info about if you want to try it. i like normal old plain curing:blsmoke:

well i can say on my very first grow i rushed it.. but that was years ago.. i didnt have crackling popping weed though but i have seen buddies who have not flushed because they did not know about it and there weed would crackle from the chemical fertilizers like miracle grow and shit like that . and it was even dried and cured for 3 weeks properly:)

The whole reason behind flushing a plant is to get rid of all the biult up salts that have been depositing in the soil from your ferts. You should flush plants at least once every 2 months, and the last being 2 weeks before harvest. If you dont flush during veg there is a great possibility(especially if you veg you plant for a while) that the salts will biuld up and cause nutrient/ph lockout. This is when there is so much salts from not flushing in the soil that the plant cant take up anymore nutrients and it will start to seriously decline in health. Some people fush every month and the greehouse seeds guys which have won over 30 cannabis cups flush every 10 days!!! Hope this was informative

If your using nutrients for soil i find it works real good to feed every other water then leach 10 days or 2 weeks or w/e u want. when im growing in the ground i like to flush 3 weeks before harvest.
