I'm sorry to do this but I was hoping to get some pro help.

Target Harvest: 17 days from now
System: ebb & flow system
Nutes: Flora nova bloom
Floralicious +
Bloombastic
Foliar snow storm ultra (started yesterday and plan to treat again next Tuesday.)

Questions: I feel it's possible I'm starting to see a toxic salt build up. Should I be flushing for 2 weeks or is 1 week fine? How can I fix my toxic salt build up? Should I do a 1 day flush with clearx then back to nutes? Or can clearx be ran with light nutes?

Hydrozyme is an amazing product when it comes to cleaning up but one week of flushing is usually adequate especially if your using a flushing agent such as clearx or final flush
 
If you think you are locked out then you should flush for sure. It's far better to waste the unused nutrients in the solution than to waste time with slowed growth IMO.

I don't think it's 100% lock out but up until I added SSU PPMs were going slowly and I believe I have some leaves that show signs of toxic salts. Any advice on the salts?
 
soil and hydro flush times are different, because the plant is in water you can change the water to stright tap or ro water and let the plant stay for about a week. with soil alot of the nutes will still be locked into the soil giving the plant a less drastic change when the flush happens, this usually takes longer about 2 weeks to get a good flush

Pre-harvest flushing puts the plant(s) under serious stress. The plant has to deal with nutrient deficiencies in a very important part of its cycle. Strong changes in the amount of dissolved substances in the root-zone stress the roots, possibly to the point of direct physical damage to them. Many immobile elements are no more available for further metabolic processes. You will start losing the fan leaves and damage will show likely on new growth as well.

The grower should react in an educated way to the plant needs. Excessive, deficient or unbalanced levels should be avoided regardless the nutrient source. Nutrient levels should be gradually adjusted to the lesser needs in later flowering. Stress factors should be limited as far as possible. If that is accomplished throughout the entire life cycle, there shouldn’t be any excessive nutrient compounds in the plants tissue. It doesn’t sound likely that you can correct growing errors (significant lower mobile nutrient compound levels) with pre-harvest flushing.

Drying and curing (when done right) on the other hand have proved (In many studies) to have a major impact on taste and flavour, by breaking down chlorophylls and converting starches into sugars. Most attributes blamed on un-flushed buds may be the result of unbalanced nutrition and/or over fertilization and improper drying/curing.[/FONT]

This morning I was very surprised to see my PPMs at 650 but I figured I'd top off with half gal distilled water (not PHed) and see where my PPMs landed. Well in the last minute of the feeding I checked again and it was 782 WTF?

Help please I need my questions answered
 
Upon further research I found floranova series seems to have a salt build up issue so I'll have to step that back a touch for future grows till the bottle runs out.

Also Im having heat stress issues and there is nothing I can really do about that as of yet. The next plants won't have to deal with it though.

Lastly I just wanted to share my setup. I'm in a dr 60 2ftx2ftx5ft with 3 plants flowering 2 are 1 week old and the other is close to harvest. After this harvest I'm going to move the 400w hps into a closet for flower and use my tent for veg.

I add this because the soon to be harvested is to large for the space she is in and I know she will stress if I take her out to flush. I made a huge mistake in the design of my first ebb & flow and put the res directly under the flood table (DIY) so I don't want to remove to flush unless I have to. If I can just top feed clean water to help for a week then do an actual flush that would be sweet I just don't want to pop a hermie already had that happen and about cried.

Any advice? Even if it's not what I want to hear it's cool I need to learn. Thank you.

I believe I know what caused the spike in PPMs I top fed and believe I knocked some salts back into the water. 2 feedings later and PPMs are down to 700 so she is eating not sure if it's her regular rated or not.

So since the salt toxicity is minimal and top feeding with distilled looks to be doing the trick I'll continue to do such until final flush has begun.

WELL OF COURSE YOU WANNA STRESS YOUR PLANTS!!!

just like you stress it when you switch the light to 12/12, when you top/fim it, etc.

the only reason these girls make buds anyway is because they're stressed from not being pollinated.

by flushing your plants you're getting rid of excess nitrates and salts, and allowing the plant to used it's own stored nutrients.

When it starts to run out of nutrition during this "important part of its cycle" (I think it's called, um, DEATH?) it will know it's days are numbered and will bud even more.


and BTW have you ever smoked a bowl of sugar? let me know how that goes. Flavors come from terpenes and flavonoids, NOT built up sugar in the plant LOL.
Of course drying and curing are important. But just as important as flushing.

i agree with everything you said but this built up brix content DOES influence terpenes and flavonoids becuase its a major part of the sap

so i sorta agree with your statement but with a slight differences sugars in a plant (brix content) are just as important as a good flush and cure and dry lol
 
what's the average time for flushing? i've read different times on here, should a plant be flushed until the the fan leafs turn yellow?
 
The PPMs of my baby are up again no addition of anything went from 700 this morning to 740 now at lights off. I'm thinking she isn't taking in very many nutes or perhaps the level I raised the water to is dissolving more salts back into the water. Any advice or knowledge would be helpful.

PS only a couple people actually answered my questions. This thread is NOT a flushing debate it was posted so I could get advice about flushing concerning my situation. If you have nothing to add to the topic of MY discussion (since I am the author of this thread) then get the fuct out!
 
So it seems she is drinking very little nutes and a considerable amount of water. Today I removed 1/4th of the Rez water and topped back with unPHed distilled. She has also started yellowing more rapid and she is gaining weight and tons of new growth. I didn't expect new growth with little nute uptake. Either way lots more frosties and fatter buds = good except the fact that you no longer see any of her red hairs they have all been covered with new growth. Is this usual for the end of her life cycle?
 
So I checked this morning and no ppm change, she isn't eating so I guess I'm just going to cut her down. There is no way she is going to be ready in less that 3 weeks there is so much new growth I'm not mad about it but I am mad that nirvana says 9-11 week flower period and my plant is nowhere near ready after 11 weeks from first pistols.

0% amber 30% milky 70% clear started an official week 11 today. I just don't have the patience for this. If I don't get at least 6 ounces I may never do this again.
 
Oh btw I'm glad no one acctually tried to answer my questions. Doubt I'll be contributing to this site anymore. 1000's of jackass' and only a small hand full of knowledgeable people.
