this is my 4th harvest.....looks awesome besides the fact that my buds look a little fluffy....is this due to not using Gravity???? or is it because i still need to cure them up????

in any case...they are on 3rd day of cure. so far so good.....but ima have to do some trimming to give them that "bud" look. is this typcial for fresh bud?? or should they come out nice n tight right from the chop???

thanks a bunch my nigs!

ive found that fluffyness really depends on strain, were u growing a sativa?
its kings kush and strawberry cough.....
but its not that its the strain....it seems like the pistols are poking out but on bud i usually buy its laid and covered all over the bud? will curing make this happen????

Fluffy buds are usually caused by either genetics or inadequate lighting. CFL grow buds are often more fluffy than compact and hard. Also, Sativa dominant plants tent to be more airy.

^ is right, sounds like you don't have much light if they are fluffy, whats your setup like. You also might be harvesting to early.

i am using a 400 watt mh blue hortilux bulb.........i never switched to a hps bulb. i do have a switchable ballast....i just didnt have the cash to grab the bulb....do u think this could be the reason for this? i kno hps bulbs make buds more compact......cuz the genetics were awesome. i had it curing for a week n 2 days now. n this is smokin reallll good :) i am happy! next time i shoiuld have some awesome ass buds!

could have been over crowding, not enough light for the space/plants #, or excessive heat and/or humidity during flower. you also may have harvested too early. you say that the pistils are all poking out? usually the pistils retract into the calyx as the calyx swells during the last 10 day/ two weeks of flower. also what base nutrients and additives did you use? i bet you would have made your money back twice over in quality and yeild had you bought an hps bulb aslo. but if i had money for only one bulb, i would have bought the hps instead of the mh.

That is exactly why. I mean i never used a 400 watt bulb i use 250watt hps w/ some side cfl lighting so ofc my buds tend to be a bit fluffier than others im sure , but im also sure the wrong spectrum of light (flowers NEED the orange spectrum to grow)

^ he's right, this is fact. i would much rather Veg under a HPS then Flower under a MH light. a MH produces less lumens and there of the wrong spectrum, ethier get CFL's or a HPS.

P.S: they should be nice and tight straight from the chop. density=distance between nodes. the closer the node growth is the dencer the buds are.

I used 1000W HPS and my God Bud was kinda fluffy. But not a single mf'r complained when they smoked it. They all come back for more. Eye appeal helps fluffy buds. People think they're getting more for the buck but really, weight is weight.
