Flowering With Fluorescents

Ok so these are my plants from my first grow ever. I am using fluorescent lights, specificaly 4 4' 40 watt tubes and one 36 watt cfl. One of the 4' is warm spectrum and so is the cfl.

I am seeing some pointy weener lookin things on both of my plants, and after a week of 12/12 lighting, some little bud like things. I am hoping this means that both of my plants are females and they are starting to flower? Look at the pic and tell me plz.

Also, I want to know what kind of yield I can expect from my flowering situation. I dont know if fluoros are the greatest but its what I have and I am hoping for at least 1 ounce from both plants, maybe up to 3?

hard to tell the sex from the pics...but yeah..you can flower with those...you just won't get a big yield from them...

Well I don't know what to tell you about the weener things, but you probably need to give them a little more time to know for sure if their male or female. Just watch right around the nodes for little white hairs. That means shes a girl. If you see little clusters of little balls, kill it.

too early to tell sex yet.

they look healthy for the lighting u have.

for those 3 plants, its hard to say what yield but wont be that much.

Um no definately not including those 3 plants... they are just a 12/12 from seed experiment.

wtf ok see the pic in the middle??? Will somebody look at that and tell me if that means they are female?

And what do you mean by not a big yield? That doesnt help at all... "sigh"

I asked if I can expect 1 to 3 ounces from the 2 plants with the lighting I am using... plz someone help?

the pic in the middle doesnt tell anything. every cannabis plant has them, they are just nodes. its too early to tell sex. u need to wait till u see white hairs or balls forming.

and no, u will probably not even get 1 ounce.

Ok WHAT THE F***. Will someone please tell me why you think I'm going to get such a low yield? My lights are equivalent to like 3 or 4 40 watt cfls for 2 plants and I see cfl grows all the time...

ur plants need more lights

4 CFLs isnt going to do anything. spesh the ones you have, they are low wattage.

get yourself some envirolite / ecolite 's. they are the big 125w / 250w

u need to place them carefully and u need quite alot of them to get decent bud.

back to the drawing board im afraid. or back to the grow FAQ and stickies

I'll tell ya right now why you'll get such a low yield, cause flourescents fucking SUCK for flowering, unless you have like 8 million of em. do yourself a huge favour and invest in a small hps system, you can get them cheap online. With the flourescents it will take a very long time to finish flowering and the buds will be pretty shitty. Trust me, i've done 2 very disappointing grows with CFLs and i had like 250 watts of them, THEY BLOW!

i got an ok-ish yield for myself from vegging and flowering with CFLs.

vegging i had : 250watts 6400k
flowering i had: 375watts 2700k

u can see the end result in my 1st grow. if u look at the end of my first grow journal, ull see i had a hps for finishing some odd plants off. look at the nice fat buds

if ur going to flower with CFLs u need alot and u need to place them accuratly, thats all i can say

Ok ok I think I really do need to just go invest in a hps, and maybe I can use my fluoros for side lighting. The only thing I'm worried about is the electricity bill because apparently that can be cause for suspicion.

The only other question I have is, will a HPS veg a plant just as good as MH?

I do know they flower better...

I do know they flower better...

No they won't.

Just buy a HPS grow light with a MH conversion bulb and you will have best of both worlds.

I think you can find one for around $200 shipped but for a little more you can get a HPS and a seperate MH but that will certainly raise your power bill.
