Flowering Question

When a grower, lets say an experienced one, says that his grow has been flowering for a given period of time, or a seed vender states an expected flowering period (indoors), does that mean from when the 12/12 switch is made or when the first flowers are observed?

I realize that this is likely subjective but I'm never sure what is the correct reference.

To be honest.. most people I think of as actual 'growers' (not commercial guys who try and keep a scheduled harvest) I consider growers, quit keeping track of calendar dates long ago.

While excellent for new growers to have a general idea, a seasoned grower (who is growing for himself) will just read the plant and wait until the fruit (flowers, whatever) are ripe. Rarely does this happen around the time they say on the package.. heh.

Just 'feel' and read the plant and realize you hit on it yourself, there is no 'standard'.. one persons 12 12 starts the second they flip, another starts when it is developed more. Breeders tend to go towards the 'flip' time, but they REALLY MEAN the after it is developed time.. or rather, commercial sellers/breeders seem to have an almost sophomoric need to demand the darn things will grow mature faster than they do.

For the record, when I'did' count, it was always well after flip after it shot out actual beginnings of flowers. But that was just me, there are no standards.

From my exp.(I have done hobbiest, as well as commercial) Its usually within a +/-week from the breeders times. Thats assuming you have proper foot candles on your garden, temp, and nutes etc. I have found the flower time begins when your plants actually have clusters of flowers (the first two weeks of 12/12 flip). Thanks for responding. I have 3 plants, 1 NL and 2 Blue Mystic, my first grow. I'm not home to take a photo but they're starting to look close, at least from what I'm reading on here and elsewhere on the net. The thing is, I'm running out of time, for reasons that I won't get into on here. So I admit that I'm trying to validate in my mind chopping them down and getting them dried out. It's been 60 days, as of today, of 12/12. I observed flowering about a week after the switch. Ive done my best to give them a good growing enviorment, plenty of light, etc. The seeds came from a reputable seed vendor. The NL has been a particularly robust plant with a lovely main cola. I cut a small bud off a couple of weeks ago, air dried it, and it seemed pretty potent. But then I'm not a heavy toker. Seemed like an energetic high that was quite pleasant. I'll post a photo in a day or so and see what y'all think.

Yeah, I understand! I have grown both of those. Im assuming there from Nirvana. Great plants, Nice smoke. Just wait as long as you can. Your place will still reek for a couple days after drying/jarring. Would love to see the pics.

get a pocket Microscope. Keeps the weeks in the back of your head. when you get close start using the pocket Microscope to dial her in for a perfect harvest.
