Flowering Question

On this site ive seen a few people say to start flowering with a dark period of 24 hours to "jumpstart" bud production, does this work?

I did that my last grow, It didnt really speed up flowering or anything, it just promoted a lot of new growth overnight. I didnt do it on my current grow but i didnt see much of a change..actually my plants showed sex within 14days this time where last grow it took almost a month.

but the hormone to induce budding is only present when the lights are off, when the lights come back on the hormone is killed off/ not present. So in theory if u put the plant in darkness for an extended period of time it sends that hormone into overdrive.

I also kept my plants in darkness for 72hrs before i harvested. When I turned the lights back on there had been an increase in white pistols and the buds grew quite a bit..

There is no measureable difference.
