Flowering A Mother?

I am about to flower one of my mothers and i have never flowered a plant this size so any tips will be welcome.

The strain is Super Lemon Haze (SLH pheno#2) and right now i have her in a 5 gal bucket DWC with a 8" net pot. The base of the stem is 1.5" thick and she is about 24" tall off the bucket top. She is about 3 months old and has been trimmed heavily many times.

The things i am concerned about is stretch and water consumption. Do large plants stretch to 2x or 3x there veg height like smaller plants? And does anyone know of any containers larger then 5 gal buckets that use the same size lid? I am afraid that i will have to refill a 5 gal bucket daily during the early flower period.

With sativas I estimate double in size, doesn't quite work like that but if I go with those numbers I am safe. Bend and tie her down before flower will also help out.

Thanks for the heads up, my brother thinks we should lst it also but i have been hesitating thinking it might be ok with out it, it has room to double with no training but not much more. We just built the new cabinet, i think it is 46wide x 32deep x 72 ish tall. the 46 wide is all i remember for sure. and using a 600 hps

I will try to get get some pics, i think it is going to be beautiful. most of the plants i have grown are 1 or 2 ounce plants so im pretty pumped about a big momma like this.

I flowered 2 mother plants a couple of months ago. The yield was small. A little over an oz for both plants. One was Permafrost the other was Skunk. I bought them on craigslist from a dude. The were nice, nothing underneath but a good canopy. I should have vegged them out for a month but i had time constraints due to other plants. The colas grew tall, especially on the skunk considering it is a sativa. Normally with a 400w hps I get 4-6ozs a plant. I only grow one plant under one light. I have 2 rooms with lights. I also have a 600w hps/halide that i bought 6 weeks ago and am flowering a Strawberry Cough, so we will see what i get from that. Her I even have before and after photos.

well i forgot when i actually put her into flower but here she is on week 6 or 7. Sorry about the bad pic quality all i have is a phone and it an old one at that. i snapped a few more pics i'll post as soon as they get to my email.

she got pretty tall on week 3 and 4 but on week 5 the buds grew so much they weighted her all back down and to the outsides. lol and she got a little fan leaf damage when we took a 6 day trip to the coast and had no attention.

the pictures also do a very poor job showing the excessive number of trics on the sugar leaves. I went a little hot on the nutes for week 5 also leading to some curl in some of the leaves.

the main worry i have is that all the calaxys are still very small, making the plant very leafy, i am hoping they will swell soon too fill out the buds.

the breeder (greenhouse seeds) gives her as a 9-10 week flower, which seemed to be pretty spot on for clones with 2 weeks veg. but since i don't actually know when i started flowering her, i am guessing not long after i made the first post in this topic but who knows. guess i will just play it by color and chop her when she looks done.

Be careful who you listen to on this board, lot of hinky "advice" out there.

I wouldn't count on mom stretching very much at all during flowering. Reason
is that the plant must be months old by now. A plant that vegges for 3-4 months
isn't going to do much stretching. It will grow out 6-10 inches everywhere you have trimmed, topped
or taken clones from her. Be prepared for a harvest that will take forever. Your buds will be some
smaller than others but you will have tons of them.

I am new to all this and have a ton to learn but I agree, I just flowered my 6 month old mother, was roughly 3' tall and bushy as hell, it did not get to much bigger when flowered, had a lot of smaller buds and popcorn on it when done. I am not sure how much I got off it total (had other plants in flower with it at the time).
