Flower Tent Build

Now that I've got my grow going pretty well I figured it would be a good idea to setup a second flower room.

As of now I am harvesting about every 8 weeks, by adding the second flower room I should be able to harvest once every 4 weeks.

I'm just getting things started now, but will post more details and photos soon...bongsmilie

I was going to start with a metal shelving unit for the frame, but when I was at Menards I found a they had sudo do-it-yourself shelving. I ended up getting 2 sides measuring 27"x72" and 2 white shelves (1 for ebb/flow tray and 1 for the roof) that are 24"x48". The overall dimensions of the new tent will be approx 27d x 48w x 72h.

So far I've gotten the following supplies...

15' x 10' of Panda film ($1 per foot)
17gal Tough Box for Res
2 Tarp Zippers
Rolling cart for res
Long power strip
20' of 4" vent tube (main tent exhaust)
20' of 6" vent tube (light exhaust)
Yield Master II Reflector w/6" air cool ports
6" Eco Plus exhaust fan for light
Can Filter 2600 & 4" Flange
Several 4" & 6" duct clamps
Couple rolls of duct tape
Electrical box, outlet and wire for power (will tie in to my current grow room circuit)

There's plenty of things I still need to get, but figured this would allow me to get the main structure built and start working out the placement of the lighting and exhaust pieces.

I plan to have passive air intake(s) on the tent, but haven't decided on the best way to accomplish this w/o leaking light in the tent.

I'm also unsure of how the duct work should go in/out of the tent. I don't really like the idea of the pipes being held up by the plastic walls/duct tape (although it'd probably be fine).

I started by adding a new run for electricity - tied it in to the circuit that's "grow room only" using a junction box.

I nailed the shelves to the side frame pieces (pictured). A low shelf for the tub and the upper shelf as the roof. As it stood the structure was a bit wobbly, but didn't think it'd be an issue as I can just mount it to the wall if necessary.

Attached the exhaust fan to the filter, and the light exhaust fan to the reflector. The reflector I got is a bit of overkill for the space, but it was a good deal. Due to the size of the carbon filter/fan combo and reflector/light combo I had to run them side by side in order to fit decent (pictures to come).

Just finished wrapping the whole thing in panda plastic - used a length of metal duct hanger and short roofing nails to attach the plastic to the frame. That definitely helped to tighten up the structure a bit more (pictures to come).

Here's a few pictures of the progress thusfar. More to come... :peace:

Finished attaching the panda plastic and added the door today.

Installed an intake vent for the reflector fan, and also got the main tent exhaust pipe setup and dumping outside the tent & outside the room the tent is in.

Looks like another trip to Mendards is coming - the chain I got for the reflector isn't quite strong enough to handle the reflector/fan combo I have going. It's always something...

The tent is just about ready for action!

I replaced the 10lb jack chain on the fan/reflector with 90lb chain - much better :)

All of the ducting is in place and the whole unit has been mounted to the walls using L-brackets.

I've decided to give the tent a try without adding an intake vent - just gonna let it suck air in the bottom (it's not attached to the floor).

Found that the 2ft x 4ft Botanicare tray is actually 26" x 43", so it fits just perfectly in the tent!

Got a 27gal tote from HomeDepot and ran some tests with pots of hydroton to get the pump timing/level down. I've found that I'll need to run the pump for 7min to fill the tray.

I have room in this tray for 27 plants (using 6" square pots), but can only get a max of 24 outta my cloner - just gotta hope for 100% success :joint:

Great setup Ahz! Will this be a SOG grow? I'm not familiar with your other grows so I apologize for the basic questions. What will be your lighting? Nutes? I have a similar space with a grow tent and will be watching closely to see how this works out for ya. Love those 6" square pots in your tray there. Perfect fit. How tall are you cutting your clones?

Hey Butters, thanks for stopping by :bigjoint:

I'll be growing SOG style, and my clones were cut between 7" & 8" tall. I use the Gen Hydro 3 part nutes & have an air cooled 400watt setup in there too.

After looking at the clones this evening I've decided I'll plant them in the pots tomorrow after work - at least the ones that are ready :weed:

Twas a busy evening, but the work is done and now it's time to just wait it out :weed:

I planted 19 clones in the tent - not quite the root mass I was hoping for, but they should work. I was struggling with some heat issues the last couple of weeks so the clones rooted kinda slow.

I also took my next batch of clones this evening - zoiks!

Here's a shot of the flower tray prior to its dark period, a shot of the new clones, and a before & after of the mothers (always shocking to see)...

You got a nice setup going. A friend and I are going to start a little grow room soon. Your post has been very helpful. I still got a lot to learn though.

i like that third pic of them at five weeks. i hate to be THAT guy, but what's the strain(s)?

lookin dank, keep up the good work.
Unfortunately I don't know positively which strains each plant is. I know what they could be, since they were from bag seed, but I didn't keep them separate.
My best guess is that I have White Russian, White Rhino, SuperSkunk or AK47 & either Mr Nice or Bubbleberry - 4 different strains.
I have some new seedlings started that are known - 1 Tea, 1 Great White Shark, 1 White Rhino and 3 Floja - hopin' for girls :blsmoke:
