Flourecent Question!

Ok so i have a 4ft 8bulb T5 flouro fixture for my veg i usually only have about 10 plants under there and i keep it about 3 inches away, i just got 20 bubba kush and 20 king kush feminized from greenhouse seeds and they all popped the 2nd day of germ 37 of the 40 made it i was very happy and the bigger plants are white widow feminized from marijuana-seeds.nl my question now is i had to put a bigger box to set all my plants on but i had to raise my light it is now about 6-8 inches away.. im new to vegging with flouros i was told you want to have the light as close as possible so is this too far away???? +REP

yes it is but ...your smaller plants will stretch out alittle to catch the light and they will end up being the same height as your other plants very soon. ive noticed with my seedlings the ones that stretch for more light actually grow taller faster where as the ones recieving decent light grow sideways aswell.

I let mine actually grow until they touch the bulbs, then raised 'em.

Would it be a bad idea to put them under my 600w hps during the day in my flowering room and then move them back under the t5 at night??
