floros for sprouts

I just ordered 2 lights 400watt HPS/MH and was wondering what people use to grow from the seed. Id like to minimalize stretching so I dont want to use my 400watt MH for seeds. I also dont want to buy a $100 floro bulb. can CFLs be used for seeds and if I were to use a CFL would that be a good substitute for plants right out of seed to prevent stretching? Do you just get these CFLs from like home depot or something?

ya man you can use cfl's for a majority of the vegging if you get the lights nice and close enough. get some blue spectrum (6400 K) bulbs and you'll be chill for awhile. hope this helps.

yeah man some daylights cfl's are good for this ponit, for the fluoros cause alot more strecthing than cfls
