Flavoring Bud.

I was told at a nursery that this was the case. But even as GG pointed out, most of them are insect eating bats, so then it would be a whole new game. I suppose if you bought the guano from Mexican fruit bats then this would stand true. I did kind of think about that today at work wondering if the guano says what kinds of bats they are. Thanks though Jack for clearing up the bats and their diet/nutrient relations.. +rep

No slam, but it's obvious you haven't tried them, because then you would know better. It is just constantly repeated hype.

To the OP.

If you have been growing organic, with the guanos, molasses and all, then just do a proper cure, you will have the best tasting bud, no question.:weed:

If you really want to buy into this internet bullshit, please, just do it on a small portion of your crop, so you don't ruin all of it.:hump:

Sounds like you are doing everything right so far. Keep it that way.

The guy was asking for "any ideas" from "anyone". I just did a little reading, and gave some ideas and clearly stated that I have no experience at all with this type of thing.

You recommend products that will sweeten your bud, without increasing potency, so you're obviously after a sweeter, fruitier taste. Let's face it, not everyone on here is growing for personal use, consumers judge your product by smell, appearance and texture. If you can increase one of these qualities, you've increased the quality of your bud, and therefor charge more.

The side-effects of being handed a fruity smelling bag of bud are, but not limited to: Smiling, laughing, increased willingness to hand over more money, compulsive sniffing of your bag, smiling, saying things like; "ahhhh" or "I can't wait to pack a bowl of this shit".

If letting your harvested, single stalk sit in diluted all-natural extract/concentrate for a few hours provides the same or better results as your recommendations, why is it so wrong? Same with the citrus peel method. Unless you have tried it, and confirm the results, you can't stomp your feet and call it internet bullshit. If there is someone who has tried, and is experienced, I would welcome their opinion.

I agree with you on your advice of not even attempting to cure your bud with a concentrated liquid inside the jar. I guess still air, moisture, and lots of food is an invitation for mold, eh?

Anyways, don't knock it if you haven't tried it. Maybe what you read that said it's internet bullshit, is internet bullshit.

 LOL, Don't get your panties in a wad.:o I said it was no slam on you.

In over 30 years of growing (mostly in the very early years when young+dumb), I have tried most of these things. Especially the citrus peel bit. Ruined a whole jar of prime bud with that trick.:spew:

I learned the hard way and it just bugs me to see it come up over and over and over.

I understand what you are saying about consumers though.

in response to sour sativa, most brands of guano will say somewhere on the jar/container what kind or bat it is from just because of the fact that most growers now a days like to know exactly what shit their putting in their plants lol. and in response to Eskinny and everyone else, dont dis on their shit because their pitching ideas. i know no one prolly meant to sound hella harsh or anything but please take into account that this thread is for IDEAS. I myself grow for personal use as well as for collectives all over CA, But more importantly i am a Cannabis Connoisseur. I love weed by it self dont get it twisted, but i also recognize the fact that every great thing can be improved upon with little innovations. so if you have negative shit, leave it at the door.

im not pisseed at anyone just needed to state that so shit didnt start flying

Panties are officially un-wadded lol. No, I wasn't trying to get personal or anything. I'm a complete amateur at growing, my first grow was a joke (wasn't planned, just germed a bag seed). RIU has helped me tremendously. So I don't really have merit when it comes to veterans like yourself.

I wasn't aware that you had tried the citrus peel method. I will take your word on it. Personally, I love the smell and taste of most strains as they are, I was just trying to give Mr.Organics some ideas.

Anyways, I will hit a bowl in your honour, that way there's no ill-blood.

Very true Mr.Organics. If nobody ever tried to improve great things, the world would be status quo.

Just think, if the Toronto Maple Leafs were never improved...wait...bad example. Go Leafs Go?

This thread should make me wonder why my in-ground grows, with 25% decomposed cow manure in the growing media mix, don't taste like cow shit.

Seriously, do some research on how plants actually obtain nourishment in the root rhizosphere from microbes and not what one pours on or mixes in the soil or on the plant itself. Can we all say genetics as a starter lesson?

i wasnt asking how plants obtain nourishment i was asking what people use increase their yield taste and aroma of their buds. why dont YOU read a thread before you post stupid shit.

Harpin Protein would increase terpenoid production, which would improve the smell, taste, and the high (cannabis produced cannabinioids are terpenoids), it would also increase the yield, photosynthesis rate, plants size, as well as nutrient uptake. It's a stress hormone that affect gene expression and increasing levels of Salicylic and Jasmonic acid, but don't overuse it or it will stress out your plant. Eden Bio-Science has a product, Messenger, that has this protein, it's organic and quite cheap.
