I was hoping someone could give me some tips on training plants during veg to grow flat for a vertical grow.

your call, brodie. If you start folding the top down, the plant should start sending auxins to the laterals, and they'll grow just the same as if you topped.

Personally, i wouldnt top. But you're going to grow some good dope either way.

It depends on your setup , if you have a few plants closet / micro grow then you could LST plants per pot or set up a SCROG with trellis net ( get at hydro store or nursery ). If in a tent , I am growing 3 gallon indicas ( which I super cropped AND Topped when vegging ) they bushed up and now have net SCROG to keep growth of branching always adjusted to grow laterally and into the areas I want to fill.

In another tent , I have four plants LST individually in their own pots ( to open plant up ) and with pinching stems ( cropping ) have a star like pattern when looking down on it .

You can even tomato cage them too.

It really depends on what the end result your looking for or what kind of room you are working with.
