first timers grow journal

alright guys i did some homework on that funky mold shit yesterday and the reason it was effectin each of my plants is cuz of 2 reasons, poor ventilation and lots of moisture in their mediums.

so to take care of the ventilation, i installed an 8 foot air vent that is constantly pullin fresh air in my closet, and 2 other small fans to help keep the air flowin.

as for all the moisture in their mediums, i fucked with those pots for a while tryin to figure somethin out but theres really nothin i could think of that can make vermiculite hold less water. so after a couple hours i decided to trash my whole drip system and turn it into an ebb and flow system where they get flooded twice a day but theyre sittin in hydroton so theres plenty of air hittin their roots as soon as the water is drained.

i was done transplantin and settin all that shit up by bout 4 pm yesterday and when i woke up today my plants were lookin 10 times better

ill post some pics later so you guys can check out my new set up, but till then happy tokin :joint:

get that shit eatn' grin off your face and move those lights closer. Stems look nice and thick, and leaves look lush. If you let them keep growin tall like that, you will have 5' plants even if you flower next week! If you got the space, grow those bias to the moon, but if not you might wanna give them a little time with the lights closer (like a week or two) then do the 12/12 switch.

over all........ lookin mighty sexy

alright i pulled a dumbass move tryin to fix one of my plants and fucked it up.......the story begins wit me leavin town for the weekend (by the way they grew a shit ton and i decided to start flowerin) when i got back they were lookin nice and healthy but one of the stems was bent, so....i tried to bend it back and it broke in half!! so i quickly taped it together and left the room to catch my breath. so all in all ive been checkin the plant every hour and it still looks as healthy as it did before the break. but if any of u have any advice thatd be awesome

LESSON TO LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE.......

DO NOT TRY TO "BEND" THE MAIN STEM OF UR PLANT OR ANY STEM FOR THAT MATTER IF IT GIVES U ANY RESISTENCE!!!!! U CANT FORCE A STEM STRAIGHT UNLESS IT CAN BE STRAIGHTENED EASILY!!!

im usin seven 42 watt cfl light bulbs, with 2700 lumens and 2700k each. and a 100 watt hps with red spectrum (i took the 70 watt hps back), im not sure how many lumens it puts out but the reflector is only big enough to cover one plant so i move it to a different plant weekly and change the cfl's around to compensate. think im gonna save up and buy a 400 watt hps for my next grow though and get rid of all the cfl's cuz they're a huge hassel to reorganize. hope that answers ur question and take it easy man

how come the plants are so stretched even with all those CFLs? Did you add some later on? Keep it up they look like theyre determined to grow

Yeah, I was checking you out and wondering the same thing as valuablevariable, so I read your whole journal, and see where you keep your 70watt hps 1 foot away, I am not sure how far away your cfl's are, but one foot for that 70watter is too far away, hence youur plants are stretching as they seek out the light source. Other than that they look pretty!
Oh yeah.......I can see where you taped your baby, she should be fine.
Peace

yeah, i was a little confused on what causes stretching there at the start of the grow so they stretched a shit load when i first put em in the ebb n flow cuz the lights were way too high. now, i got it rigged where each plant has 2 cfl's bout an inch above em and their new growth is lookin alot better. but ill post some pics of the lighting setup later today.

also, i took the tape off my baby yesterday to find that the stem was completely solid again, but now shes gotta battle scar.

take it easy guys:joint:
