First time using diy mister cloner - need tips

I just made a diy spray mister cloner and am about to take the clones. It's a 396 gph pump in the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket with 1/2" pvc connected wih about 18 360 degree spray heads. The water temps with the pump running 24/7 is around 70. So I'm going to get a water heater to keep it around 75-80. Tryig to get them to root as fast as possible.
Should I use plain water? I have this powder stuff for cloning it's a new product and is supposed to be "alive". Should I use it?

I built one too. I got good results just putting a cap full of superthrive in (a few times just plain ph'd water which worked) then once I saw tiny roots used my nutrients (at the time was DynaGro) at 1/4 to 1/2 strength.

If that powder you have is one that you dip roots in I wouldn't use it but I'm not that experienced so maybe someone will chime in with better advice on that.

I personaly use Kelp, about 5 mil per gallon, sometimes a little less. I find using 3% H2O2 at about 3-15 mil per gallon gives me more roots off the stem. Cloning is pretty straight forward, cut and mist, don't over think. :bigjoint:

Edit: I use Growmore Seaweed extract to lower PH and Progress Earth Kelp to raise PH. I use Food Grade 35% Hydrogen Peroxide diluted 1:12 to = 3%. So one shot glass of h2o2 and eleven shot glasses of RO water.

It's a powder you mix with water. It's got good reviews I just can't think of the name and don't want to walk upstairs. If I don't use it and Since this water is going to be so hot im wondering about keeping the water sterile but still be safe for the plants. somekne suggested pool shock at a seriously diluted ratio. But idk

Would using my powdered alive rooting stuff with h2o2 work?

F the pool shock right now. Just change the water out frequently. You can try the powder, that's the beauty of making a cloner, you can do all kinds of tests by just snipping a branch off the mother.

Yea just trying to get a good method to try so Im successful first go. I'm not gonna do the pool shock just someone suggested it. But I was thinking of keeping it sterile somehow similar to that. Because of the high water temos. But I shall just change the water out every few days. I guess I'll just use plain water and a tiny bit of root powder and try first.

Only enough branches to take all the clones I'll need this time around. And want them all to make it. Lol

I believe it would, though personally I have better results with liquid rooting hormone. This is a statement with little experience
to back it up as I stopped using rooting powder after my first year growing. Liquid Clone-X gel does well for me. Now a days I just cut em and put them into the cloner. I don't waste time with dipping and soaking.

I would take about half a tea spoon to a full tea spoon and mix it with water and soak the cuttings, then put into your Aero Cloner and dump that mixture in it. Don't over do it, less is more with cloning.

h202 works with everything and is a GREAT WAY to keep things sterile.

Yeah that's what I would do. Remove as many variables when starting out with it. Less stuff to analyze if you have some problems starting out . After you can get consistent roots every time then make the pool shock mixture. I use it but at first just kept it all as simple as possible. Better to spend the time changing water more often than have more culprits in the event you're having difficulties at first.

I was going to either mix the powder with water and fill the cloner bucket with it or mix the powder with water in a cup and soak the clones for a few before putting in cloner with plain ph'd water.

Yes good thoughts guys. They will root with plain water. I can always add more variables after to test results compared to the first plain run.

Do both and your set!

One Solo Cup
One half teaspoon of your powder
Fill up with water
Soak cuttings for about 15 min
Dump cup with solution into cloner
Put in clones
Plug in pump
14 days you will see roots

Chea! It's on thank you.
Moonshiner you make moonshine ?

14 days .. Wait. I got my last clones to root in like 9 and that was just in a dome no water just sprayed it

Okay. Well I'm not running those temos yet. Gonna look at Walmart for a very small aquarium heater. What's rhe optimal temp. 78?

Nice I'll see if they have it. I'm going now lol. So many impulsive trips to Walmart for one thing. Lol this is for a bigger tank thank my 3 gallons of water I'll have in my bucket. They shut off once the water hits the temp right?
Not sure how they work, let us know how it turns out and how that heater is.
