Ok another question, sorry guys im newbie for rdwc. Should I always keep the ph at a set point or is the gradual increase from 5.5 to 6.3 ok. Im asking because I have a ph controller doser so should I set it to certain ph and let it do its thing or should I run it on a timer so that it only turns on once a day.
Also let's say I do a water change and I have a e.c of 1.2 and then 24 hours later my e.c is at 1.0 and 10% of water is gone, do I top off water and raise the e.c back to 1.2 or do I just top off and ph the system?

I have read PH swing is good because it allows the plant to pick up nutrients at different levels, but I also have a doser and have seen research showing that plants grow best at a steady PH. So my doser is running 24/7
In addition, here is a handy flow chart for hydro feeding

I've grown in RDWC for 5 years now and I've had good success bumping the ph from 5.5 to 6.5 over the 10-14 days between rez dumps.
I also use the same water meter to make sure that I'm adding the proper amount of nutes.
I usually only need to add water to keep the ec where I want it between dumps.
I've been running Jacks 3-2-1 for a couple of years and the plants are quite happy @ 1.6 ec.
Ultimately, I let the plants tell me if I need to adjust the feed strength.

Awesome thanks, for the water meter should this be installed at the fill port site so when initially filling the system u can get measurement of how much water it took to fill your system thus telling u total volume of water in system after fill

I used the meter to determine the total amount of water the system holds when it's at the proper level in the totes.
I mark the side of the tote at that point and use that as a reference to gauge how much water they have used.
Between dumps, I just use a 5 gal bucket to top off and monitor ec for any adjustments.
