First time indoor grow looking for some help with air quality and environment

Hello, I currently live with my folks and we all have our med cards. I am looking to set up a small (2-4 plants) grow, however my conditions are a little unique.

I leave out in the country, but my moms a little paranoid about visibility/smell. The 3 places I was looking to start were A. My room, B. A studio, or C. an old house on our property we havnt lived in for like 10 years.

the old house would be ideal but I'm a little concerned about air quality for my plants, it hasnt been used for a long time so it has that rusty old house smell. I'd use oils and clean the room before i put plants in of course, but I'm still concerned if the air would affect my plants.

I am looking to either grow in a closet something like this http://www.virtualsunhydroponics.com/virtual-sun-grow-tent-96-x-48-x-78?google=1&CAWELAID=1544825670&CAGPSPN=pla&gclid=CjwKEAjw876oBRCYr86w6KGfpkgSJAACIidwHf0kNtUtW4-ldu0EK4ag6L18X_MpFhLQZTjUOIvPYxoCXY7w_wcB (which might help the air?) or make something like that myself (seems like it would be cheaper to put up a frame, surround it with reflective material, throw in a humidifier (and maybe a heater somewhere), a CO2 pump, maybe a filty, some adjustable lights on a chain going up and down through a hold on the roof, and call it kosher.

the other option would be to put this setup in my room which has great air quality, but my concern would be that most (a little is fine i think) of the smell doesnt seep thorough a closed door (i have a window so maybe i could set up a filter/fan though there.

the last option would be in the studio but my mother has a bunch of books there and doesnt want the humidity decomposing them. However with a self built closet I feel I could keep the humidity just in the closet correct?

anyways some help on where to set up (and perhaps on a choice closet if what I thought about building doesnt seem like it would work). I have most/all the lights I need but Im trying to keep everything else under 150-300bucks. Thanks!
