First time Hempy Bucket

so decided to experiment with some extra seeds had a NYC Diesel x OG Kush cross laying around using a 2g 3 parts perlite 1 part verm hole 2 inches up. Do hempy buckets usually have a slow start to them? Seems like its having a slower start than soil but apparently it goes slow till the roots hit the res in the bottom of the bucket?

just wanted to double check with others that hempy buckets have a slowish seedling stage to them. either that or this strain is a slow vegging one. or both..



seems to dry out fast was dry when i took the pic then watered it started it with some bigbloom and calmag plus. perked up afterwards.

People will start in a plastic party cup then transplant into the large bucket, but I prefer the method you are taking, a bit slower out of the gate, but less hassle in the long run.

Yes, because the roots take more time to work their way down to the water reserve, as such the above ground growth is minimal until they have established a good root system, then they kick into overdrive.

it was a real experiment for me because i actually just started the seed in a tiny cup of strait verm then after i saw it had sprouted i moved it into the hempy bucket lol. like a little bathroom cup of verm.

Should be no issues, like stated it will be a bit slow out of the gate, but it will do just fine

I have never known anyone to use straight vermiculite in the starter cup, but I predict no issues or concerns as hempy is extremely flexible.
You can start your hempy's with rock wool, or peat plugs or soil or almost anything, so why not vermiculite.

I start in 1" rock wool cubes then I move the 1" cubes into 6" cubes and then I grow from there.

I put one in a Hempy style container 10 gallon rubbermaid 1/4 " holes drilled all the way around 2 " above bottom.
I used leftover expanded clay pellets to fill my container just above the holes I centered my plant and rock wool and then covered/ surrounded with pellets, I'm using a small concrete mixing pan as a catch pan.

2nd pic was First day in the Hempy container and the start of 12/12 lighting.

Hempy are nice. Check my vertical grow out I switched from soil to coco hempy don't regret a bit.

i already got a bit invested into horizontal equipment but that is a sexy grow you got. i recently started doing the jacks classic which is a simple feeding program and ive been debating on just going to soilless with lime added like sunshine number 4 or something.

I heard great things about jacks. I'm using maxi bloom and it's doing pretty good. My hydro guy gave me some flora plus to add during flowering so I can't wait for that. By the looks of them being tied on the walls, flowering is only about another month which is on my schedule. It would be nice to get a birthday harvest. But I just add 7 grams a gallon of maxi and I'm good besides adding ph up. I added a little more in my res though. I need a shop vac for my saucers they like to overflow because they aren't big enough lol. And I would use coco if you go soilless I paid 16 bucks for a 5 kg bale and it did 3 -3 gallon pots and I got a 30 gallon tub half full of leftover from one bale.. I need more clay pebbles before I can get more pots or else I'd be having plants all around that light. I'm gonna do it with the next grow hopefully gonna order some seeds and clone the shit outta the best ones and put 12 around the 600w 6 vertical scrog lol. Sorry for talking a lot.. Kinda stoned
