First Time Harvesting and Cloning

Its my first grow and Im about 5 weeks into flowering and its looking beautiful, buds are sprouting everywhere, even at the very bottom of the plant. I would like to save this wonderous plant and clone it after harvest but Im not sure if that is possible and if it is, how to go about it? Can I cut off all of the buds, then change the light cycle back to veg and let the plant veg before I take the cuttings? or will cutting all of the buds off kill the plant? and also, if it doesnt kill the plant, what is the proper way to cut off the buds?

i have been wondering about that very thing. I know you can take clones during flowering... but what about after? I also know that it is possible to cut off the buds and then revert the plant back to veg (but doing so is supposed to bring out some weird deformities...cosmetic only).

You will risk the clone being a hermie I think. Not sure it would be a great idea. You should have cloned it before flowering. :peace:

You should be fine. I took a ton of clones in flower, a few after 4 weeks, no problem. I am over 5 weeks now, I think I may snip an odd lower branch just to clone :)

i would take and harvest only the bud off the plant, dont take none of the big fan leaves, and throw it back on 18-6, it should yeild another crop or 2 or 3....

I use Rootech and it works great. Snip under water, scrape stem, trim and clip leaves, dip in gel, stick in RW cube ph'd and dipped in my "veg" juice. Then into the dome, half the time vents open, then closed. Do the work and learn how to take cuttings. If you get this down, you can pretty much take one at ANY time. Try this, I rooted four clones in 12/12 :). Funny thing is it dedicated no time to veg at all. They have not grown past 12" and are just little bud trees. :joint:.

Yeah, r32, great info. I use that Rootech too, and it works better than my old fave, Clonex Purple. I understand that it has more IBA than Clonex. But that cutting under water isn't necessary. That's to avoid an air embollism from entering the stem on more soft-stemmed plants than cannabis.
