first time growing mushrooms how are they looking ??????

I actually am trying to grow some but for some reasons my jars stopped colonizing :/
Dont know what went wrong its not contaminated and it doesnt look overly dry
 
what tek are you useing i use the pf tek . a lot of thing could go wrong STERILITY Sterilization and cleanliness are important factors in growing mushrooms.This is a tricky subject, but the general rule of thumb is better too dry than too wet
Temperature. . The optimal temperature for Mycelial Growth (for p. cubensis) is 75 to 81 degrees (f), anything more or less will slow down mycelial growth (and possible kill if you overheat).. PATIENCE is the key :)and 80 % humidity

This is the tek i followed, only deviations were that i used slightly smaller jars (faster to colonize) and i didnt use tyvek and just used polyfill (after lurking and asking some people i determined that the tyvek was overkill and unnecessary as i had polyfil).

Theyve been kept in a room in a house so around 72-76 so they should be fine on temp, If i had to guess i would say i may have put them in a little too wet, last time they got super dry and i thought that was the reason why it didnt colonize :/
Ill check today (3+ weeks) and if they arent growing then ill dump em and start again.

When did you inoculate the jars after sterilization? My problem my first few tries was adding the spores to the jars to soon after sterilization when the substrate was to hot and it would lead to some growth, but then the whole colony would die a few days later. Dunno if thats what happened to you but just relating what I had to learn the hard way myself.
 
Ahhh you know dutch theres a very good chance thats what i did. I let them cool for a bit but the jars were still warm to the touch when i inoculated.
Ill try again and try to get the moisture a little more dead on and make sure the jars are cooled down.

Do you guys use tyvek on your jars?
 
That may be your problem right there. I found waiting almost a full 8 hours worked best. Warm to the touch may mean its too warm in the substrate. Cheers on your next attempt. Also i never found the need to use tyvek, but everyone has a different setup.
 
Hey, just a weird question, but what would happen if you put them on top of your water heater? That is where I put my seed packets and they sprout seeds really quick that way.

Just wondering if that works for mushrooms too.

Depends on what stage and how warm your water heater was. Ideally you want around 75-85 for colonizing and the humidity chamber.
It could help it colonize faster if it was cold though.
 
Nice shroomies!!!

I just recently moved and had to stop harvesting. Found 3 syringes!!! in a moving box from 3 months ago; PES Amazonian, Trasure Coast, and, Malabar!!!!!
I might just start a a new grow. Keep up the great growing!!!
 
I tryed the kits didnt get that far with it Lucky for me Im the only house on my road in the country Threw the kits waste water in my garden & bam next spring I had shrooms Heres my take this springView attachment 1579363
