First time growing hoping things go well

Hi everyone, this is my first attempt at growing. I'm using a 4x4x7 lighthouse hydro tent, sun systems magnum XXXL 8" reflector, Galaxy select a watt ballast, hurricane 8" inline fan. I'm currently running a 600 watt mh bulb keeping temp at plant around 75. I started 11 feminized seeds I got from seedsman in rapid rooters and 9 sprouted. 3 are fruit punch, and 1 each of special queen#1, white widow, midnight mass, critical kush, blueberry, and amnesia OG. I'm now 3 weeks from germination and just did uncle Ben's topping method above the second node on all of them except the white widow which has had a rough life so far.

. Those are some pictures from sprout to now. They are in 5gal fabric pots with a promix hp/Perlite mix. I'm feeding using fox farm liquid nutrients. Let me know what you think. Always open to advice as I don't really have anyone around to teach me anything so I've been reading these forums to figure it out. Thanks for looking.

The plant from my last pic is already filling the void 24 hrs after topping

I originally wanted to do flood/drain hydro but couldn't find a decent deal on a system. After I started these I ended up picking up 2 oxygen pot 6 bucket systems. Since it utilizes the same 5 gal grow bags I'm currently using I was thing about putting these in them when my watering becomes more frequent and using it to water the plants. Whenever the dry out I could turn the pump on and flood the buckets, let it soak for a few and drain away the runoff. Has anyone done this? Thoughts on it? Should I drain to waste each time or could I send excess back to the res (maybe with a filter of some sort) and just re pH and replenish nutes, top off water as needed?

So my special queen #1 came out with a birth defect originally. I've been watching and wondering how it will turn out. Both cotyldones were on one side.

then the leaves started on just one side

and now it's shooting off randomly everywhere

ever seen anything like it?

My first plant had a birth defects as well haha, it looked like it was dabbing with how one cotyldone curled up and the other curled down on adjacent sides rather than opposite, now however it's shooting new growth out fine and you cant even tell it had club foot.

Hey. Just wanted to let you know I'll be following along. I hope things go smooth and you end up with some top quality herb. I do want to point out a fewthings that might help you along the way.

1. A 4x4x7 tent might seem big now, but as the plants grow and fill in the space you'll notice it'll get harder to fit them all in there. The maximum number of plants I'd personally do in a 4x4 tent is 4. I prefer doing two, even three plants in a 4x4 max. It'll requires an extra couple weeks of vegetative growth but it'll be well worth it.

2. The more strains you're growing at once the more difficult it is to dial in on what the plants need. I try to grow no more than 2-3 strains at once. Each strain will feed on nutrients at different rates, so unless you're mixing up multiple batches of nutrients tailored to each plant I assume they'll all get the same dose. This is a pain in the butt for experienced growers, let alone someone who's doing it for the first time. The alternative of feeding multiple strains the same dose of nutrients will eventually lead to a deficiency or two along the way.

3. Your canopy will be harder to keep even with all the various strains growing at different heights. The goal many growers have is to keep an even canopy in a tent to maximize yield. Having a pure indica next to a 50/50 hybrid that's next to a sativa will be hard to manage canopy height.

All in all I wish you good luck and I'll be following along. Don't hesitate to PM me if you have a couple questions. But try and keep things as simple as possible. I know it's awesome getting a bunch of seeds and wanting to grow out each one, but I've learned from experience that it's easier said than done. Start with 1 or 2 strains, grow it out, clone em along the way, and see if you can improve your second go round. Once you get those strains down and feel more confident about your grow skills you can move on to more intricate setups.

Thanks for the advice man I'm always open to suggestions. I agree with all of the points you made. I started alot because I wasn't sure how many would survive and I ended up surprised. I've noticed how they all grow a little different and I can kinda see which ones are similar and could grow better together. I think when I get towards the end of veg I'm going to take the plants that seem behind and move them outside while I start flowering the more advanced plants. After this grow I'm planning to setup the two 5x5 tents I picked up with the oxygen pot hydro systems I got. I have 2 reservoirs 2 controller buckets and 12 pots. I'm thinking of using 4 in each as flower rooms running a month apart on opposite 12/12 schedules. Use the remaining 4 along with a diy res and controller bucket in my 4x4 tent for the second month vegging and maybe a small flood drain table for the first month of veg. I haven't nailed down the vegging plans yet but I already have the needed things for the flower rooms minus 1 light fan and filter. For now though I just want to focus on getting through this grow hopefully with some nice rewards at the end. Right now I'm trying to decide if it's worth setting up a 5x5 and transferring it all into it to gain a few sq ft. The space would be nice but it's alot of stuff to swap over. Depending how this one goes I might do another grow with just 4 on the hydro system to get a feel for it before jumping into the perpetual thing. But I couldn't pass up the deal I got for the equipment. I'm glad to have you along and welcome any more input you may have. Thanks again

Day 30 from seed. I think I may have over watered a bit I'm going to let them really dry out good this week. My plants seem so full and short. They're really congested hopefully things spread out as they grow. Here's some pics...

They are looking awesome! Mine are spaced out a bit and I think that comes from starting in a peat pot and transplanting about 3 times in the 26 days ; one of my autos (honey cream) is much shorter than my Pineapple Express because I only transplanted once and into a big final container. Your plants are looking so happy

Thanks. I tend to worry alot and I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I always feel like I could be doing something better. I need to learn to just sit back and let them do their thing because like you said they are looking pretty damn good for my first run all 9 that popped are still alive so I must be doing halfway decent.
