First time grower

Hello all

I've been reading through the forums loads of late and I've learned more about growing than I thought I could. I still have a question however and was hoping someone on here could help me out?

I have a clone that I managed to pick up and I've grown her from abt 6 inches to her current 24 inches just by giving her plenty of natural light and letting nature take its course. I don't have any special equipment (she's been grown in soil) and I haven't done anything that I wouldn't do for any of my normal plants. She's healthy and strong and I started trying to make her flower around a week and a half ago. Going by the pics I've seen here of other strains, she looks like she's on her way to flowering.

So the question I have is:

"How long on average does the Cheese strain (don't know if that's the real name or just the name we use in the UK) take to flower and how long will I need to keep her on a 12/12 cycle?"

I'm kinda new to the whole growing/forum thing, so please be gentle! lol

I dont know about the cheese strain specifically but it indicas usually take 7-8 weeks and sativas 8-10 weeks. If the plant is smaller and bushier and has wide leaves its mostly indica, but if its tall and lanky with skinny leaves its mostly sativa

I'm not real familiar with that strain, but for bud in general you need to keep the 12/12 the whole time while you're flowering... if it were to go back to 16 - 24 hours of light it could possibly slip back into vegetative growth. If you're letting it grow outside, the natural changing of the season should bring the onset of flowers. IDK how things work where you live, but mine naturally started flowering outside here about 1 1/2 months ago. When it will be ready... well the best way to tell that is getting a microscope or you can even try a magnifying glass at a kids store or walmart type store, and look very close at the trichomes, they go from clear to cloudy to amber, i'm sure you can find some pretty good pics of what they should look like close up.... if not google "Big Buddah's Cheese" and you can get some more info. on that particular strain, i know it is popular as i've seen it in high times and friends of mine have had it (not grown it) goodluck and it should be some fire!!!

Big Buddha Cheese takes 8 – 10 weeks to flower.
Homegrown Fantaseeds Cheese just lists its flowering time as "long"
Green House Seeds Cheese takes 8 to 9 weeks.
There are a number of different strains/varieties of Cheese and their genetics do vary in percentage of indica and sativa and each will have a different length flowering time. Also those predicted time periods can and will vary somewhat depending on growing conditions.

When it comes to a pure/landrace sativa or a strain that is predominantly sativa a flowering time of 12 to 14 weeks is not at all uncommon and some will need even longer flowering times. For example Green House Seeds Neville’s Haze, mostly sativa, has a 12 to 14 week flowering time. The old original real deal Panama Red could take up to 20 weeks to flower.

Each breeder’s strain of whatever name can easily have a different length flowering time than the same strain name from different breeders so research each one before picking and do not just accept it when someone says a strain name or type of herb, as in indica or sativa, needs a certain period of time to flower and just accept it as if it were carved in stone.
