First Time Grower with questions

Eight days ago I started growing three plants, two of which are about 2 inches in height and the other 3 and a half. I have a couple of questions.

1. The stems look thin, is this normal or should i have something to help support stems?

2. Should I be giving them 24 hour lighting or will 18/6 be fine, or is one a big improvment over the other?

3. About how long should it be until I plan on seeing other leafs?

Thats really all the questions I have for now i'm sure i'll have many more along the way though. Thanks...

well youre not going to have very thick stems at this point anyway, but def have something to support it if they start falling over or anything. you can give them 24 or 18/6 it doesnt really matter either way. some people say that a dark period helps, others say they like a full 24 hours of light. you should start seeing leaves within the next week or so. you can look through my journal if you want i have plants ranging from a week to 4 weeks old...

Relatively normal. Use some support if needed. Also a gentle breeze from a fan will help strengthen the stems.

Depends on what type of lights you have. I'd run CFL's 24/0. But HIDs use considerably more power. Your choice. I ran a 400w MH on 24/0 for a few weeks but decided to cut back to 18/6 to save some energy. No noticeable difference in growth.

Any time now.

well yeah its pretty important. fans help circulate fresh air, keep the temp down and help promote stong stem growth. otherwise when you start flowering your stems could be too weak to support the buds and the branches will start to bend and fall over. just helps out with a lot of factors and all you need is a small 5 dollar clip on fan so why not...

should I be, I know I bought a fertilized growing soil, just one of the tips on my plants looked a bit yellow so I figured it could be the fertilizer in the soil getting to it. when should I start fertilizing

dont start adding any nutes for at least two weeks. some people like to wait a month. what type of soil are you using?

You should have a fan blowing them gently enough to move the stems a little so the stems grow strong or they might flop over.

No nutes, if your soil has nutes like miracle grow then none at all for 3 months.

You should have more growth already in my opinion. What light are how far away?

yeah I'm using a miracle grow soil not 100% positive I do know it's the rooting soil though. What height should I be looking at 2 weeks?

what kind of lights are you using? miracle grow isnt the best type of soil to be using but it will do. try getting yourself some fox farm for next time.
