First time grower...Tent, Hydro, LED/CFL combo. Thanks for any advice.

Am I doing good so far. I command honesty!

Everything was fine 40 days ago...Then the strains wanted to go nuts. Colas galore so now my tent size will need to be increased for sure next round. Refuse to be defeated by the size of these plants. Stay tuned next round because we must level up!! Happy Growing.

@GroErr Any idea on what happened? We are looking at 4 plants that are going crazy. I went to trim one leaf and my arm is sticky so I cannot complain. Why would this 4 plant crop have 5x more growth then the last? Maybe the colas are fighting for light? I cant figure this out but I will enjoy the triches. So sticky. Cheers buddy.

Different strains right? Some stretch more than others. If you have your light higher they will tend to stretch a bit more/faster too. Not terrible using LED's, as long as you get coverage being closer won't hurt or burn them. you may need to bend some colas but should be manageable. It is a jungle in there though! I'll have the same problem with one plant in my tent coming up, got too big waiting for the tent, now I'll have to deal with it after it stretches or it'll hit the lights - lol

The strains are the same as last round. Cheesey smurf and Aurora OG. Last round I got 3 ounces off one cheesey smurf and one ounce of the Aurora OG.

Looking back I think you just let them get a bit too large for the space before flipping compared to the first round. You'll just have to allow for the stretch, with clones you'll have a good idea now going forward. With new strains/seeds you'll just have to guess and allow for ~50% growth in the stretch, some can double but 50-75% is more common. You could have bigger problems like defs, they look good and healthy :)

Thanks...the nugs are coming in so nice. There will definitely be quite a few smaller buds due to the fact the 4 plants are not getting the proper light penetration. The plants went 1.5-2ft above the scrog. Absolutely wild. I will definitely bloom the next clones much sooner. Take a look, i just transferred 4 of the 8 clones. The other 4 I will have to toss because I don't have any friends who want them. Such a waste of some healthy clones. Anyways, thanks for the great info @GroErr .

Here are the genetics profile of one strain I am growing.
Cheesey Smurf:
  • Flowering: Photoperiod
  • Type: Indica & Sativa
  • Height: Medium
  • Genetics: UK Cheese x Smurf
The mother used for Jungle Cheese V2 is the UK Exodus Cheese clone that any UK grower will know and love as well as many others around the worl! It is said to be an old school Skunk No #1 selected from sensi seeds by the Exodus crew in the 90's. The smell and taste from this strain is super stinky and coats the mouth with an antiseptic berry skunkness. In the UK there are a few cheesy clones around this one used is the one we call suicide cheese and is one of the strongest around .
The father for was bred by Trichome Jungle Seeds which is a cross of Galactic Smurf x Haze x Santa Maria, the Santa Maria haze male was also used to make Mantis by hitting up their Nap, this male came to them in some seeds they found in some dank hazey limey smoke while in Amsterdam a few years ago. Trichome Jungle later found out from the coffee shop grower that it was Haze x Santa Maria. From these seeds they selected a nice male, the Galactic Smurf is Crystal Ship x Pony Boy, Crystal Ship is Kodiak Gold x Kali Mist indica pheno.
The seeds for this cross came from a guy at their first cannabis cup which came out with some super tasty herb with a super trippy high and all sorts of black current candy smells. The Smurf male used was also used to make Smurfberry (Krowberry x Smurf), Larry Smurf (Lemon Larry x Smurf) and Cheesey Smurf (UK Cheese x Smurf), a Smurf female was used to make the Bubba Smurf (Smurf x Bubba Mantis), this female has been tried by many and everyone loves her.
Indica/Sativa: 50% Indica / 50% Sativa
Sex: Regular
Bloom Length:56-63 days

Here are the genetics on my 2nd strain. This is my all time favorite!!
Aurora OG
Indica 50 / Sativa 50
Origins: Northern Lights 10 x Skunk #1 x OG Kush
Flowering: 56-63 days
Aurora Borealis is the Latin name for the natural phenomena at the North Pole otherwise known as “Northern Lights”, which in turn is the name of one of this plant’s celebrity parents. Northern Lights is an indica strain that, during the 1980s, made its way from the Pacific Northwest to the Netherlands, where it has become a building block for many strains around the world. The Northern Lights #10 mother was selected for commercial production back in 1997. While Northern Lights was specifically bred for the then-fledging indoor grow scene, the other parent in this famous pair, Skunk #1, was initially bred for outdoors and greenhouse cultivation. The resulting plants are of a medium height, with dark green foliage and short internodes and a 50/50 sativa/indica phenotype expression. Aurora Borealis may have a less recognizable name than her parents, but her genetics shine through to reveal her family ties.
This strain can be grown in all suitable mediums and will survive in most temperate regions. Outdoors, in Holland, the Aurora B. matures in mid-October. She comes up stocky with dark green foliage. Plants started in May in Holland, and left unpruned, usually finish at a height of around 5-6 feet. They yield around 500 grams per plant.
Indoors, the Aurora B. performs best under a sea-of-green regime at a density of 16-25 plants per square meter. She thrives on generous nutrient levels and performs best in a good, rich well aerated soil high in organic matter. Allow for a vegetative time of around 10 days or until the canopy cover is about 70% when viewed from above. Do not prune that canopy unless a longer vegetation time is required. All feeding should cease during the last 10 days of flowering so as not to impair the taste of the final product. The height of Aurora Borealis under this regime is usually around 1-2 feet and its yield ranges from 25 to 40 grams per plant, at 600 watts of light per square meter.
Once the plants mature they exhibit fairly long, broad colas with a medium density and very high resin content. The smell and taste is satisfyingly sweet, with a warm skunky undertone. The plant’s odor is very pungent until fully dried and cured. Aurora B.’s high leans toward the physical, starting strong, with a long lasting and well balanced plateau and a gentle finish. Medicinally, this strain works well to alleviate symptoms from which indicas are generally prescribed, such as chronic pain, spasms, sleeplessness and nausea.

Hey Darth, flushing is a questionable practice in soil (I don't drown plants is my view), but in hydro I'd probably do it for a week, gradually bringing it down. I think what you have to be more concerned about though is timing. Based on the pics you threw up last Friday, imo those plants have another 3-4 weeks before they finish. Cheers.
