First time grower, experimenting with CFL and Sterilite Box

I appreciate the info, def going to watch out for over watering more now. Wish I would have used my closet in the beginning, but was too worried about temps. It's all good though, I'm going to let the screen fill out a little more, and then will veg some clones in the closet!

Oh, for sure with the cfl's temps shouldn't be an issue at all. As long as you not touching 85-90 degrees in veg your good. For flower 75-80 i like 78. My ambient house temp is usually around 72.

Here's a little update on the plants....they are looking pretty good. Haven't seen any signs of nute burn. Am still juggling the watering though, still doing just a little too much. I water before the lights go off and sometimes the Skunk is a little droopy after the lights come on. It corrects itself by the time I wake up the next morning (lights out from 6pm-10pm, 20/4). The FIM site on the Kush looks good, but then again I am a noob and what do I know . I see some new growth though, so that must be a good sign! Will post a pic of it next time I post an update (probably 2 days from now).

Also, my plan with the watering is not to saturate the soil and to never let it completely dry. I read somewhere that a good gauge is that if the soil feels more dry than moist, it's time to water. Am aiming to work up to watering every day or every other day. It seems like the Kush likes more water than the Skunk! I will not be doing any flushing. I know some swear that you will ruin the taste of your bud if you don't do it while flowering....but how do you flush MJ that is grown outside in the ground??? Going to do the best not to stress the girls!

As you can see in the pics, the Kush is growing upward while the Skunk is growing outwards (she's extra bushy!!). Lol figures since I'm trying to scrog. Hopefully Fimming helps the skunk to catch up though. She'll get there eventually. I can't stop looking at my plants, can't believe I helped them get this far. Can't help but be proud . Thought I was for sure going to be one of those people who destroy their grow from too much micromanagement haha! :peace:

They are lookin great :weed:

As for flushing outdoor plants, I would guess that they are "flushed" so to speak when water carries the extra stuff deeper into the ground past where roots grow

I haldf-way agree. they are not being flushed, because as old gets washed depper, new nutes get involved in the situation. Flushing involve Water only no nute, so no that is not happening outside.

^^ yup, any plant outdoors can't be flushed because you simply can't get rid of everything in the soil. Even if you could, the microherds living in the soil would very soonly start the replenishment.

** clarification** any plant planted in ground. (not just outdoors, you CAN flush a potted plant that's outdoors ;) )

I wish I could keep my house that cool, am in the South...for the moment. Unbearably hot sometimes!

Thanks Breeze!

I just learned how to multi quote ^^^^^ lol. Took me a while to figure it out. Oh, and I've been doing some cleaning...got some closet space to work with for the next grow...or maybe some micro lst bagseed grows for now to keep me busy and away from the kush and skunk!

Lol, mine too hopefully it can handle the 100+ weather i'm not looking forward too. it is central ac but the unit is to small for my house. but i vent the heat out the my attic from my grow.

Idk about where yall are at, but growing indoors during summer in Texas can suuuck. It gets hot and humid. I always end up having to run my lights at night to keep the heat down.

Hahaha...same thing here, too small for my apartment. I have it on 73 but it's probably more like 77. I don't look forward to the heat either, last year was torture.

Lol I heard about TX...it gets really humid here too. Ridiculously so. Been a couple nights where I woke up in a sweat puddle ugh! Had to put two fans in the room just so I can sleep at night...and the summer's not even at it's peak. Wishing I lived up in the mountains with fresh, cool air right about now.

i am running my 600 from 0830am to 0830pm. but i might switch it around as the heat starts to come. but then i would be trying to get home to get in my garden if i'm ever out.

Yeah, it's a PITA! Our summer last year didn't do anyone any favors.
On that note, if they are potted, you can let the sun do your vegging, and only do supplemental lights if you need a few more hours' light. Then just have a flowering section, running on lights. Or if you're up to a bit more work, just have a darkbox you put them in to do flowering. Just move them in and out at the proper times and be in bloom all season!
