First time grower - experimentation problems

Heya folks,

First time grower here, testing out a setup on some bagseed before vacation. I want everything to be working perfectly to get a fresh start when I get back.

Setup:
2x unknown genetics plants each in 5 gallon buckets, dwc.
2x 250w hps
Heavy 16 veg a/b nutes
Closet grow

Problem:
Week 3 - Yellow spots on leaves in a few places, Some light green patches.

Path taken thus far:
- Seedlings were moved into the area with their first set of serated leaves. 250w hps lights set 2 ft from plants. Used 11ml each of heavy16 a/b in 4 gallons of water and adjusted pH. Had some issues keeping temp under 84, low humidity. During first week got temp stable, humidity struggling to get over 25%.
- Early plant development showed some dark discoloration and drooping leaves. Identified the issue to be nitrogen toxicity (?). At end of first week changed to 9ml each (recommended is 14 for seedlings).
- Adjusted lights to 18 inches going into week 2. Some recovery of color and drooping.
- Adjusted nutes to 11ml each for week 3. Still some drooping. First noticed spots day 3 yesterday. This morning they are worse, but only show on one plant.

Pictures: the close up was taken today, the other two show both plants two days ago.

Any ideas or advice would be appreciated!

Get you light higher, looks like too much light intensity as they are young still. Look light stressed to me ?

I have a 400w hps and keep it really close even as small seedlings within 8 inches but i also keep an oscillating fan pointed at them and had never had a heat stress problem

Stop giving the guy false advice! .. he won't have a successful grow. 400w is far too much, and I'm led to believe the fact you kept a 400w HPS 8 inches away from your seedlings is absolute bullshit!

Firstly I would suggest using a higher kelvin such as 4k-6k. Metal halide if possible throughout veg. Then use HPS for flower. If you can. Invest in some T5's for Veg, much less wasted energy. Without the added heat stress. That is a good sign of heat stress. Keep the temps around 76-81f. With a nice breeze.

Thanks.for the tips folks! I will upload some pics tonight with the hps off. I think slyone/feisty are right. Light/ heat stress. I have moved the lights up for now.

At the moment I am nudging the upper bounds of my budget. Would a cfl monster type setup work for seedling and veg stages?
