First time grower, critique my setup - 6 plants 400W HPS

Hey everyone, just wanted to get some opinions on my setup. This is my first time growing so I'm still kinda new at this (I've been reading a ton the past two months on how everything works!). Picked up 6 clones today from a dispensary in So. Cal and I'm growing them under a 400W HPS light. I have them in a homebox growlab 80L.

The clones are Purple Kush x2, White Widow x2, G-13, and Shiva Skunk. The SS looks best in my opinion, still too early to tell but if I like how she looks later on I might decide to Mother her. I'm a little worried about one of the PK's, the branches are drooping pretty bad, happened right after the transplant, the rest seem ok.

All criticism is welcome. This is my first time so I don't expect everything to go perfect lol!

I'm a little worried about this one, any ideas as to what could be wrong? its purple kush

looks like your plants are over watered or nute burnt or just shock from the transplant... or all 3... just water it a few times w/o nutes and it should recover. The leaves also look kinda strechy... i would move the light alot close to the plants... between 12-18 inches.. will stop the streching and really help with growth.. hope this helps

I transplanted the day I got them (Sunday). They were all in rockwool, and were transplanted into pre-watered FFOF soil. I used 1/2 quart of water in each. Haven't used nutes yet, probably wont for another week or so. The light is about 2 feet away from the plants, I'm gonna lower it tomorrow, just dont have enough room right now for the duct to stretch without tearing.

Thanks guys! More pics...

Hey if you cant lower the light you could always raise the plants. I use blocks of wood and buckets to get them closer to the light. try to keep the canopy level at the top as different plant will grow at different rates. Looking good though. You must be planning to transplant again before flowering?

hey man i would suggest you get some blue specrtum lighting for the veg phase, that hps is gonna make them stretch way more than any blue spectrum light, and it looks like you dont have alot of space to go up. thats my opinion, you need blue spectrum to make your plants shorter and bushier

You are stretched, over waterd. Lowert the light or raise the plant. A 250, you should be able to get them to about 6-8 inches from the plants. Only water when the top 2 inches of the soil are failry dry. Water till you get a good flow from the bottom of the pots... You can start nutes now at 1/4 strength..

Also, you gotta start to train your plants. At that rate, they will not support many buds. Tie them down and let them fight to grow upwards, you will develop a good strong plant, as you really need to add some strength to them...

oh and take shots of plants with problems out of the hps when taking pics to show prblems, makes it way easier to see deficiencies and such

How do I go about tying them down? Sorry if its a stupid question, just want to make sure I know how to do it so I don't screw anything up.

I'm gonna lower the light in a couple hrs. Gonna buy some more ducting from the hydroponic store then get it all set up. Have to run down to the DMV first though :|

Thanks again guys! More pics to come...

not much to critique... you bought a grow tent and a light... thats a good grow setup... cooled hood is nice... those 6 plants should be nice in there if you grow them big.

cfls? add them in there? under what looks like a 600w? i dont think that would really do anything more for them... i would get a small fan in there and have it blowing on the plants a little, just enough to make them quiver. this will make them grow stronger and thicker, they look like they are too weak to support the big leaves.

they are stressed in part because of that big hps about 2 feet away he either needs to lower the hps or get some 6500k cfls in there close to the plants and turn off the hps for now. you should look into this soon before you get some plants that wont support branches after 6th week of flower. and other issues can arise from the stress. right now my advise is to lower/switch light and ad some superthrive in your water that has b-1 and helps them to relieve stress. and they could probably use feed as well, start at 1/4 strength. if you do this i guarantee those will perk up and start looking sweeeet. be careful not to overwater though
