First time grower cfl

Reminds me of a movie I once saw of a desolate prison...lol fresh white paint, maybe use a reflector or turn the bulb. Looks like you got the budget bug which is fine. I have a fairly inexpensive set-up with over 12,000 lumens of cfl on a fixture that cost less than $50 including 4 6500k lights and one 2700k bulb all cfl. Also what size is your box it looks like a smaller grow (AKA Stealthy OP).

Went budget bug of course and ended up with a DIY light fixture-
Three place fixture for bathroom-$10
Two two way splitters-$5
Four 42W 2800 Lumen 6500k CFL-$27
One 23W 1600 Lumen 2700K CFL-$5
Cord-$3

Sourced everything from Menard's
4 42W CFL 6500k they also make them in 2750k flavor these put out 2800 lumens each...I then have a 2750k CFL that is 1600 Lumens so 12,800 lumens...

Ok irll tin foil it out tonight and make some sort of reflector (y) as for the dimensions irll have a little measure up when I next go there :). Just a quick question I'm just using general potting soil and when I have watered it the soil seems to be staying damp any help with this ?? The bulb is just a 11w cfl I got out of a old house lamp from ikea, should I use a more powerful bulb. Thanks for your help and sorry if some of the Q's sound a bit stupid but 1st time grower here :D.

You will need a bigger bulb at least one 42 watt 6500k at 2800 lumens for just one plant and then maybe two to flower out a small plant. The temps will go up if you plan on covering it so a fan and some ventilation would be nice. 11w is kinda small...you can use plain white paper to line the box too. Paint it flat white if you want. No dumb questions...I have had every issue happen and it takes experience to enjoy the right grow practices. Soil should retain moisture to feed plants for many days.

Just done the whole box in plain white paper (pic). Well we've all gotta learn somehow I suppose :D. + ok irll keep my eye on the soil though as I have heard about something called root rot ??

P.S, just measured the box and it is:

As long as the soil drains and the excess has somewhere to go...ie holes on bottom of pot. remember to put a bowl under to catch run off...root rot is an issue but only if you have way to much soil retention of the water.

Yes the soil does drain and at the moment it's just running onto the flat piece of wood you see underneath the pot, I have some corragated metal somewhere and I will set it up so it is on a slight slant so I can catch the runoff, thanks for the little tip (y). What's soil retention ?? I do get the water coming out of the bottom of the pot, but the soil seems to be constantly wet :/ not sure why it's doing this ?? Any help ?? Cheers

I went to try and get some 42w cfl's today and my local hardware didn't sell them so I was wondering if any of you had a link to the one he mentions earlier on in this thread ??

I would order more than one I am a murphey's law guy too...lol I hope you know the reference...that bulb if it's a true 115Watt and not an equivilant will be plenty for one plant to veg for a while...put it close as you can without burning the plant.
