During vegetation, how many times a day should I water my plant since I don't have an automatic watering system set up? Also, how much water should be given to each plant? I would like to think I would only need to lightly dampen the soil each time I water, but I'd like to hear from more experienced growers first.

Large plants use more water then small plants, but there are many more variables then size that dictate a plants water consumption. The age of the plant, container size, grow medium, temperature, humidity, and ventilation all contribute to water needs. Change any one of these variables, and the water consumption will change. Good ventilation is essential to promote a free flow of fluids, transpiration, and rapid growth. The healthier a plant, the faster it grows and the more water it needs. You should flood the soil and then let it dry and repeat...

thanks alot for the advice. that actually helped alot. also, i checked out your grow journal and saw you were using soil which is a relief because up until now i had only seen rock wool used, but then again, i hadn't really spoken to any home growers. your plants look great by the way!
