First time grow in hydro

Researchkitty- Thanks! That's what iv been looking for, the lights needed to get a QP. I have T5's. I know there not the best for flowering, that's why I want to vegg them longer to reach that. And how tall are your plants at 3-4 weeks that you vegg?? Mine is 16' in about a month.. planning on another month to fet more buds since my lights are not the best.

You have to look at luemns put out by the light, t5 put out like 2500 Lu. each, When a 400 Watt hps puts out like 50000lu. My numbers may be off but you get the idea. Although ventilation is necessary with hps, you can get a 4" fan filter combo for like $125 online. Hope this helps.

I top my plants so they have 4 main colas when they are at their third node. (See UncleBen's Topping Method). It stops their vertical growth by a day or two while the new tops start growing. They flower when they are about 14"-16" tall. Good luck!

Researchkitty-Thanks that helps, now I know how people get more in so little vegg time. Ill be doing that nest time, I think its too late to top mine. Thanks!

if you have the light, use it. they all have their place in the garden. you can use it along with a HPS for the whole grow. was reading a growers thread the other day that said while the HO T5's yielded the lowest amount, he got the best quality bud from the T5's. he said the HPS was highest yield, but lowest quality. and he also used a CMH (ceramic metal halide), and said it was in between the other 2 lighting systems.

I just did an entire half dozen autoflowers under my 1000w veg mh lamp feeding them the same nutrients as I feed the Mommies. They werent the greatest, but they gave a half ounce a plant of excellent smoke. If they were under the correct lighting, it would have yielded much more.

MH / Flouro for veg

HPS for flower

Now when you HPS for flower and have a spare T5, sure, use it! Hook as many lights up as you can, but make sure the HPS is the focus. :)

agreed, but if i had a large watt HPS just sitting there during veg, i would through that in there with the flouros/MH for veg too. all the extra spectrum will benefit in the end.

I have a closed tent with ac blowing inside and a fan to help push air out of the tent and air being pushed out as well, with 70-75 dagrees, what if I clamp on cfl's around each corner?

Perfect! Ventilation is great. You can clamp CFL's in the tent if you like, but dont do it above the plants. Do it a few inches above the watering level that way they nug up the popcorn on the bottom of the plant that normally doesnt get all that top light. :) There's also SunStrips that come in 2, 3, and 4 feet which are just long flouros with an ac adapter. I'm about to add 7 of the 4 feet versions to my room in the first week of November.....

The absolute best situation, would be to use a MH along with HPS through the entire grow. The same rules apply, if you have extra lights, including floros, throw 'em up...
