First time CFL Grow

You should build a little led light for it, man. Just even 1- 2 Cree CXB3590/3070's cob leds would do so much better for you.
I do plan on getting a better setup for my next grow. This is just to get my feet In the water, ive Spent about 40 dollars total on this grow. Next setup will definetly be a tent + leds.
I always recommend to start with cfls, they are cheap and easy to find, and you can figure out if growing is for you without hoarding speciality equipment that'll be useless if it turns out you dont like growing.
Get better equipment once you are sure you'll use it - cfls can be reuse anywhere in the house if not for growing :p

Shane: looking good buddy! I can't make out how big the whole box is but a good guesstimate is that the plants will double in size during flowering - to help get an idea. Flip 'em and keep us posted
Cheers
Thanks max! I'm going to take my tape measure home today and get some specs on it for myself and everyone curious. Just haven't got around to it yet. I've read about them doubling in size sometimes tripling In size so we shall see. I will definetly be posting photos. Thanks for stopping in againm

I have been watching your grow. You are doing great so far!

I am also a beginner and on my first time grow. I am also using CFL's. I also plan to eventually upgrade to LED.
From what I have learned, my advice to you is: don't underestimate the stretch; don't overuse/underuse nutrients; always check the ph of your water; use room temperature water; don't let temperatures exceed 85 degrees F; 12 inches of plant per gallon of container; use feminized seeds; and you can never have too much light (unless the room gets hot).

Here is a picture of my grow in case you interested.

wow they look amazing, I'm sure mine will get around to where I want them during the stretch, they have been growing fairly quickly this far. As for knowledge of growing I have done countless hours of research. I would say that I have a good general knowledge of what a plant needs, deficiencys, enviorment. The only thing I lack is personal experience. And money for real quality equipment.

My room smells like fresh green plants with some skunk mixed in haha. Plants are showing signs of magnesium deficiency, i.e Old growth is dark green wwith a slightly leathery texture, and the new growth is extremely green. Going to get some bloom nutes today and epsom salts, Also picking up a zip of Mr nice today :)
. Ps bloom nutes will be added very slowly because I have miracle grow potting mix with nut3s added already.

What's up guys, have some photos of the pretty ladies :). Fed with 1 tsp Of epsom salt per plant today. Will do foliar feed in a couple days if needed. Both have stretched alot already haha. It's exciting going into my room every morning. I did take a photo of my cabinet I'm growing in and some scale pics with a lighter. Forgot my measuring tape at work again so no size on it yet.. anyways here's some photos.
bagseed on the right and pineapple express on the left :).

Looking nice!
I think you should be fine with space but it's going to be packed. Make sure you keep a good airflow on the plants when they get bushier. Personally, I would also use the convenient shelf holes on the side of your cabinet to hold strings/plant ties to keep everything nice and even on top of your canopy, when they've stretched a bit more.

Thanks maxwell! It sure is going to be packed in the box, I think I made a good choice to flower when I did haha. I do plan on utilising those holes a bit later and making a scrog Net .

I also noticed, because I have mixed brands of lights. That the larger 23 watt bulbs, as compared to the smaller 23 watt bulbs Produce much less heat. The large 23 watt has more area for cool air to pass by rather than the smaller bulb. Just an observation.

Yes they have sprung up the past couple of days, I'm sure from starting flower. Sure the salts helped aswell Since it was a noticeable deficiancy. Definetly a more healthy green :)
