depends on the size of your net pot... hydroton slows root growth compared to DWC solution so the bigger net basket you have the longer it will take... up to a couple weeks. I use 2" netpots with neoprene collars and no media so the roots are immediately in the supercharged nute solution.

2 should i give the rockwool a hit of the water in the bucket
if you want... don't let the roots dry out obviously; you will need to top feed until the roots hit the res.

I just remove plant, dump out bucket, fill up bucket, mix nutes, ph, replace plant. It is not necessary to clean the buckets unless you had root disease or something, and the roots should not be bothered by a couple minutes exposure to light while you swap buckets. Make sure you are running bennies or sterilizer and 100% light proof to prevent root rot.

thanks man .......knuckle bump

while u are looking on this

someone told me that temp of the water is not a issuse as long as u have a high str air pump ..............is this correct............and does 2 gallons a min in a 4 gallon water hit that area

rez temps. are very important. the warmer the water, the less oxygen it holds. plus, warm water = algae growth. i don't know the exact temps. you're looking for, 64-68 or somewhere around there. you def. want it below 70.

At sea level pressure, 60F water holds 10% more dissolved Oxygen than 70F water. It's really not a big deal.

The biggest deal with temp vs oxygen levels is how long it holds the oxygen and how long it takes to absorb it. Colder water holds it longer and absorbs it faster. The same is true for CO2. For example, a warm beer or soda will go flat much faster than a cold one, and force carbonating a keg of beer is much faster if it's already chilled.

Bottom line: The warmer the water, the faster it loses O2 and the longer it takes to absorb it.

As long as your aeration is constant and good, there is nothing to worry about... at least when it comes to dissolved oxygen levels.

These cuttings spent 13 days in my propagator and then this is day 4 in my dwc tote. nothing more than plain tap water

well at this point i have it in a dwc
micro pore stone
7.2 liters a min air pump
black bucket 6 inch net
in 4 gallons of water
temp reading on the side is 70/72 (brewing temp strip)

my worry is it is now under a t5 light 8 bulb 2 foot .............with the black color and me moving it into the 2nd tent with the hid lighting (600 watt hps and mh same time 2 lights) i grow autoflowering................that the black will aborb the light and heat the water up to much to the point need a chiller or some jerry rigged cooling system

and since ppl have been asking for some of my shine i been brewing the last 3 weeks and piping the CO2 into that tent and the temps in there are running 82 top of bucket lvl (ejection point for inside the tent is running 86)

the room temp outside the tent is a steady 65/68 ......i can lower it but i tried that and it stuned the soil bags i was starting

That tub looks like mine with 2 more holes.
7" air stone and meglomarts cheapest pump.
I used ph'd tap water and the fall temps are perfect (I guess) for the water.
Got a few clones showing small roots and root nubs at 8 days. Some clones have no nubs but are healthy.

7 out of 10 look good, re-cut 3 and those are looking healthy.
I love this box!!!!
