Hey there everyone, so Im working on my first grow and its in a little crate (check my sig link). Confirmed today that the Maui wowie is a male and the OG Kush is a male. Not wanting to pay for seeds and hoping for an ideal phenotype I am going to take cuttings of both the plants and grow them side by side in a small computer case in order to get some seeds. Here is where my question comes around. Im not really interested in growing the males of the new plants out, rather just the females in order to find just the two best and make feminized crosses of the two.
In order to weed out the males early is it possible to grow about 20-30 seeds until they all have about 3 nodes, then flower them for a week to find out, then cut back to veg with only the females. Is only 3 nodes too early to attempt? I am space limited but still want to be able to breed a decent strain. I can grow 3-5 small/medium plants at a time so making sure Im moving on with only females is key to success here.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!
