First T5 bubbleponics grow help!!

I'm a first time grower and I'm going to be building a Bubbleponics system (two pod / 20 gallon w/2 5" air stones) And will be putting it in a DR80 with a Hydrofarm T5 2' 4 bulb (Veg 6700k) till I bloom:)
Is this going to be sufficient light for my tent set up, and will I have to put the Bubbleponics drip system on a timer as well or just keep the water flowing constantly?

well your drip system is not needed will only complicate things, you can just use a res and pump to top the tote. most dont even use it, they just grow in a tote and top it when needed without a control res or timer. would be better if you add some airstones and airpump, i think 2 5" stones with a small aquarium pump is not enough for a 20gal tote

So better I go with a smaller tote than the 20 gallon I was going to use? I'm only growing two plants at a time.
And should the res/solution be filled up to the bottom of the pods? In the DIY stuff I seen it shows tube going from the water pump to the pods, what's this for?

I figured it out!!:) the solution being used with the water pump only works till the roots grow into the solution inside the tote after they touch I can pull the water pump out

i only use the pump to top the res so i dont have to change or top often but then i have to clean 1 more res after every grow... anyway the water level in tote has nothing to do with my pump, i keep water level touching bottom of netpots till there's some decent rootgrowth into solution, then i lower water keep the roots 1/2 submerged and 1/2 suspended in misting bubbles, but i need the whole surface bubbling so i would put at least 4 airstones 6" in there. what i mean is that you need to focus on bubbling water and water temps most in DWC by the way the pump also raises the water temps. water above 75F is trouble

Ok I got a 20 gallon tote, 3 5" net pots (but only using 2), air pump (TopFin 4000), 2 4" circular air stones (should I get 2 more? Or return and go somewhere else?) 25' black tubing today
Going to get my hydrofarm 2' 4 bulb cfl tomorrow along with Mylar, nutes and hydroton

yeah if the airpump can run 4 do it, or get a second small pump. are you planning on flowering with fluros?

Ya it's a budget grow and my first so I'm not into spending a shit load of money but in the future I'll go HPS/MH.
I'm using the 6500k veg bulbs and will switch to 2700k bloom bulbs when flowering. I read that cfl is the best way for Bubbleponics cause it doesn't heat the water/solution like HPS/MH

I'll have to see if it can but shouldn't be a problem I'll have to T them in. the pump has two outlet lines so I figure it's an 80gallon pump and my stones are 4" 20gallon stones so two per outlet T'd will be 80gallons at 40gallons per line split in two to each 20gallon stone

in fact HPS releases less heat more lumens when compared in watts with cfl's. so you using 4x2' fluro tubes? so each is 38w?

are you talking about an aerospring unit? then you'll remove the water pump and make it nothing but dwc? I say leave the water pump and suspend the roots in as much air as you can .....here, take a look at this https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/346967-my-first-grow.html
These totes are my own design and I stand by them, they work and they work well, easy access lid to check water or change rez.

Here's the source "Because it's crucial to maintain proper temperatures when growing with hydroponics, you will probably want to avoid trying this system with an HID light unless you have a proper venting/exhaust system. This system seems to work best with CFLs or LEDs since they don't produce much heat."
So you think if I went with a 250w HPS/MH it would be enough for two plants? I'm still going to give it a shot with the CFL's but maybe during flowering I will have enough for the HPS system and then I can clone with my CFL's

IMO plan on getting at least a 250w HPS and a proper exhaust, it will cover 4'squared area+ with decent bud.

Thanks I'll see if the hydro shop has any 250w hps for around $200 what's the exhaust going to run me

well if you want you can try look for price of ballast reflector light and exhaust fan from electricity supply shops, might also find aircooled hoods there for way less than hydro shops. if you had to just get the aircooled hoods from hydro shop. you need to exvhange the air in your growspace 2-3x every minute look at the cfm of the fan ;)

yes this looks sweet :D how much do you smoke? this is not the light to supply a pothead wake n'bake style but great for a moderate smoker. in the right hands this would give an average of like 5oz like every 9-10 weeks, depends on how good you grow, time the grows and so on.

So if they have one down at the hydro store should I get it? I'm a wake and baker but I work all day 5oz off of two plants every 9-10 weeks would be plenty half that would do
