Hi all growing outdoors - indoors not an option.

first signs of leaves seem to be drying up or dying. Initiall leaves still OK but first real leaves are not.

why? any reason

i water every day, keep them in sun with cream coloured mesh to protect from harsh sunlight , will they develope better as days progress?

I did change soil about a weeek after first leaves came out as i was worried it may be the soil. This was a stupid idea wasn't it.

I feel these are the most crucial times when they first sprout up from soil so any advice is appreciated.

thanks in advance from down under aussie land!!

You shouldn't have watered them every day. This is a common mistake by new growers. I did the same thing at first. You want the soil to get a little dry so the roots will start searching for water. When you plant a germinated seed, the seed pod has enough nutrition for the first week or so of development and needs to be left alone for the most part.
Misting the little plants is a good idea or using a humidity dome. Start them in something small at first and them transplant to a larger pot, like maybe gallon size.
There are several mediums available for starting your seedlings. Rockwool cubes, peet pots and Rapid Rooters are the ones that I have used succesfully. Any of them is real easy to transplant. Just lift them out when you can see some root development, usually a little over a week. Water them in to thier new home, remember less water is better, and watch them grow.
Only water them if you aren't getting rain.
I won't be much help on anything else. Michigan people just don't understand your climate I'm afraid, and I'm growing hydro. I did read something about 'Perth water in Australia. Sorry I didn't pay much attention to it. You may want to look at what folks there have to say about your water or design something to catch rainwater.
Hope this helps. Welcome to the forum.

Many Thanks Vic!! I think you are right - too much water - i will look for rockwool in my nursury - i have 4 seeds left and will try agagn i kept some aside knowing i would stuff up some where along the line!!
